It’s hard to believe that its been 7 years since the Twin Towers were hit. I still remember that day.We were living in a suburb of Boston. I only had Ashwina and was a few months pregnant with Avasha. I was sleeping when I heard Nk shouting and asking me to wake up.
I woke up and watched the news in disbelief. I called my dad and asked him to turn on the news. One of NK’s closest friends worked in NYC. We couldnt get hold of him till much later in the week.
Today, the flags are at half mast. The weather here is dark and cloudy. Then I read the sad post at MM blog. A tragic, unnecessary loss because she was too poor to afford basic care.
My mom’s club decided we were going to bring baked goods to the local firehouses with the following note printed.
Thank You for All that You Do for Our Community!
According to Webster’s Dictionary, the English word herocomes originally from a word that means to watch over; protect. As firefighters and police officers, who at this very moment are fulfilling your task, you are truly protecting and watching over all of our safety and wellbeing.
You deserve to be honored.
We thank you for everything that you do for us on a daily basis to make our homes, parks, schools, and streets safe for everyone.

Neil and I went. The guys were so appreciative of the store bought brownies. They took Neil around the station and showed the fire truck. My only regret, was that there were not hot firemen around. *wink*
