I read 2 weight-loss blogs. Both of those women lost a bunch of weight and now are struggling with weight gain. They have not gained a lot but its very very demoralizing to see the scale creeping up. It’s so easy to chose one more aloo prata or one more glass of wine or heck whats 2 more chocolate chip cookies. But all that does count and if one isn’t too careful, the once-loose-pants start getting tighter.
In that note, its also so much easier to say,, the temp is in the 40s and I don’t want to go for my run/walk/Nordic Walk. I have a slight headache so I will go to the gym tomorrow. So, so easy to brush off the exercise with real and imaginary excuses. And slowly, one day goes by without exercising, two days go and before you know it, its been 2 whole weeks since you put on your running shoes.(Its hasn’t happened to me YET! The most I go without exercising has been 3 days)
I have been good though. I have not gained weight. I lost 4 5 dress sizes since I started my journey. I fit into size 10s-sometimes 12s. Because of my new found confidence, I am trying new things. I tried a spinning class when Heather talked about it on BIO. I am now in love with spinning. I would have never dare to drag my size 18 self into a class full of size 0 spandex clad ladies.Never. My glutes were sore for 2-3 days after that class. Since then, I have been regularly going 2-3 times a week
Next I tried yoga classes. Cobra, Downward Dog, Triangle were all confusing..while people were effortless changing positions, I was craning my neck to see what the instructor was doing. I didn’t go back to that class.
I still use my pedometer every single day. I clip it on in the morning and take it off when I sleep. I average about 15k steps. Thats about 5 miles each, of which 3 miles is my daily NW route.
Thats my exercise regimen. You would think with that sort of routine I would be 100 lbs BUT I am not. I lost I think about 35 lbs. But my body has changed, I look very toned now. The scale isnt moving much but I am hoping the sizes will drop.

Ignore the kitchen mess. This was taken last night. The monthly mom’s club night out….

Hot mama!! I’m so glad you’ve found something that works, and that you’ve been able to keep it up. You ROCK!!
Me:Thanks Crissa. I still prefer NW over the gym
My My! You are looking so wonderful! you have really inspired me. I got to start NOW!
Me:NM, I have met you! You are skinny!!
Have been reading your blog for some time and i like the way you write. I wonder how you walk ourdoors in winter! I would curl up and then regret not working out later. I should be getting motivated by you!
Me: Hi Shilpa. I started in Jan of this year. I bundled up when it was cold. I have headbands, gloves, warm long sleeve shirt, jacket, ski caps. I was really prepared.
As long as there was no snow, I was out walking.
Also, as a long term weight fighter I woild suggest dont fall into the weighting machine trap. Track your progress with your dress sizes(there will be one particular pair of pants/dress that would fit perfectly…use that) because as you workout constantly, you are building muscle that replaces the fat and muscle weighs more than fat does. Also, try measuring yourself and use that as an indicator. You can also use body fat % as an indicator. Dont worry about the weight.
Me:Yeah I try not. I do measure myself once a month and input the date on sparkpeople.com. I also had my bodyfat analysis done by the trainer at the gym. Thats why instead of a goal weight, I have goal dress size
Absolutely gorgeous. But you already know that, right?
Me:)
U look pretty!! Why dont u use a watermark on ur snaps?
Me:Thanks Reema. This was taken by the iphone and sent. So easy to upload.Am too lazy to put a watermark on. I should though..
Big applause for you, so inspiring for post partum 30 lbs on me! I need to go join a gym now….
Me: Thanks! My baby is almost 2 so it took me that long to lose the weight…
35 lbs and 4-5 dress sizes?! That’s nothing short of awesome. You are looking good!
First of all, wow wow wow!!! And congrats, that’s slick (yes, I know, actually more like hard) work but at least you’re reaping rewards for it.
Me:Thanks BL
Next, tell me about losing weight and gaining it back fast. I lost 6kgs within 3 months when I was in Germany and then I gained 10 in 8 months when we arrived in Italy…Talk about depressing.
For 3 weeks now I’ve been going twice a week to the gym. I do Pilates, Hatha Yoga and a bit of the treadmill. The yoga’s particularly tough but it helps that most of the other people in the classes are OLD. Average 60 years old, I think. They are very very fit but they’re old, so somehow I do not feel intimidated and demoralised right away. I haven’t lost any weight but I’m definitely more toned. Hopefully the weight loss will soon come.
Me:The pilates is tough. All the syncronishing the breathing with the pose is hard work. I have stopped yoga, I did 2 classes and then decided it wasn’t worth my time. Does your gym have spinning classes? Its ona Schwinn bicycles and you adjust the resistance yourself. Try it if there is one!
Stick to it and give me the courage to stick to mine.
Cheers.
shit man i need to do what you do. bloody impressive! All the bardi didi!
Me:Aren’t you and your brother supposed to be doing the whole working out and flexing biceps stuff? What happened to that plan?
me infrequent reader…but i remember seeing one of the pics u had posted earlier…the transformation is amazing!! u look fabulous
)
That is awesome progress..and you don’t look like a mom to 4 kids…
