Date Night.

Nk  and I never get a babysitter. We never go out on dates. I dont know why but thats just something neither of us were interested in.

However, this past Sat, Neil’s preschool held a auction slash fundraiser at a club. A bunch of moms were going solo and I was going to go with them. NK changes his mind and tells me to get a babysitter and he wants to come as well.

I asked around and the going rate was $18 per hour. Arghh.. I didnt want to pay that much. I told NK as much and we both decided not to go.

Last Monday,I was signing Samar out of the gym’s day care when it hit me that I could ask the girl who works there. I asked her rate and she said $12. I said, Are you sure and she said yes. I quickly told her the day, the time and gave her our address.

Sat evening, I wore my boots and a little black dress. NK looked good.  The babysitter, E, arrived 15 mins early. The kids were excited to see and didnt even say anything when we left. I showed E where everyone’s dinner was and gave the address, and our phone numbers again.

We took NK’s car, with no car seats in the back, made us feel young and reckless. We arrived at the club within 15 mins. Nk got wine and I had a pineapple upside drink. We held hands and walked around looking at the auction items.

NK bidded on a few things, a bottle of Tequila, a homecooked meal. But he kept getting outbidded. One of the moms then comes running to me, saying we are all going in as a group to outbid the moms from the explorer’s class. We are bidding on a pole dancing lesson for 20. I am putting you name down. Okay. I just nodded and said yes. WTH is a pole dancing class? I guess I will find out soon enough..

The food came, more drinks.. There was dancing, there was adult conversation. No one spilled anything. It felt wonderful. All too soon, it was 10 and the whole thing ended.

We walked to the car and got home by 10.30. E said the kids were wonderful. The  boys went to bed at 8.30 and the girls slightly later. I asked her, Did Samar cry when he was sleeping. She said nope. Sigh the ungrateful monsters I have.

Nk and I were downstairs, talking about the event, when he pulls out a giftcard and says Happy Valentine’s Day. It was a gc to a local spa. I was shocked. I didnt expect anything. That was the like the perfect end to the amazing evening.

Ignore the crazy child at the corner.

PS:I am working on the working out/diet post. Promise.
