Nothing makes you miss you family more than falling sick. This is the first time, I wished I wasnt thousands of miles away from my family. It would have been nice to have my mom come over, take care of the kids while she made me halia chai. Mum would claim that the Himtaj oil could cure everything and insist that we sit down and allow her to pour bucketfuls of that oil and do the rubbing/maalish thing . It would have nice to be able to nap in the afternoon and not worry whether the boys are going to kill themselves.
My kids have been sick before. I have done the 2a/m ER run. My mum left 6 weeks after I had Samar. I handled it all and handle it well if I say so myself. But for the first time in many years, I wanted family around to take care of me. I begged the kids to just watch TV and leave me alone. Ashwina made sandwiches for everyone. Samar had canned mandarin oranges and bananas. I called NK and told him I couldnt do it and he needs to be home.(to him that meant coming home at 5.30 instead of 7.30..rolls eyes)
But all I had to make do with was a phonecall. Sigh.
I am back to normal. I went to the gym today after almost 2 weeks off. The kids are also fine and back to their crazy behaviour. You pull your hair when your child climbs on the sofa and jumps for the thousandth time and yet when the same child is too weak and just lies around pitifully, you wish he was back to jumping. Thanks for all your concern.

Awww..You will only realise family’s worth when they are not around or when you fall sick..I think other times (especially when she starts her “usual stuff”), u wish they wont
Welcome back….

Yes, its the worst feeling, being sick and mom is far away. Though we are adults now, have become moms ourselves, but when we fall sick, we just want our mom to pamper and make chai or look after our child so we can take some rest…I remember that feeling..
Hmm, so move to Singapore then, problem solved! Hope all’s feeling better. Love to all

What is your opinion on the whole creativity and Indian parents?
Me: My opinion is that I dont really care what you do with your kid as long as you dont bother with mine.
