What will you do when

The 4 yr old is sleeping and you carried him from the van to the house. The oldest child held the 2 yr old hand and walked him to the front door. BUT the 2 yr old screamed and shouted, walked back to the van and demanded that he too be carried home.
Do you
A)Tell the screaming 2 yr old to use his words, and tell mama what he wants as taught in parenting books.
B)Tell the 10 yr old to bring him back home.
C)Lock the front door and take care of the other 3 kids.
D) Go out to the van, carry the monster home and then tell yourself screw those parenting books.

Answer: I did everything. I went out the first time and talked to him, carried inĀ  groceries. He refused and sat on his seat instead. I started putting away the milk and sent out the 10 yr old to bring him back. She came back screaming that he didnt want to come. I then went out and closed the door and said, Bye Samar. I am closing the door. He didnt react. Finally, I went out again, picked him up and carried him in. Poor thing was so exhausted from screaming, Dont carry Loon(he pronounces Neil as Loon) he not baby. I baby. He fell asleep right.

I dun think option A will work on yr 2 yr old..He will scream and shout even more. And roll all over the ground
Option D-Means u give in to him and he will do that ALL the time to get his way..
I will go for option C-But it is a bit to mean, so I dun think I will go wif it.But is fun to watch his reaction. He might juz run to the door by himself..However, u never noe will happen to him outside. Is dangerous

    So is Option B…

  2. Holy cow! that must have been one mother of a tantrum…im a wuss and would go with D :( …He’s just a child…

  3. Abha says:

i would go with D if its a once in a while thing! and the he is also very tired and sleepy!

and A if its happening too often and let him cry his haert out neighbours and embarassment be damned!

    cheers!

  4. blinkandmiss says:

    D. Given the situation.

  5. ~nm says:

Hahhaa.. and thats a toughie..I mean to chose an option :D

If I’m really tired and out of patience, which quite frequently is the state, I would pick “D”

  6. ashes says:

    D.

You don’t need books to parent your children.

  7. Sonia says:

I go with D. Maybe he was tired too. He doesnt do things like this often, so D is the choice.

  8. Dee says:

    d. since he is a 2 yr old. Probably considers being picked up his right(just because he is a 2 yr old) and the other kids just hangers-on.

  9. Preethi says:

    d although c is very tempting :P

  10. M says:

Much as I’d like to believe I am all sweetness and light, I’d probably do a variant on C! i.e. not lock the door, just tell him to get his act together, and leave the area with the other kids. Of course, this w.r.t. my kids – I know their temperaments and I know most of the time such behaviour is simple temper, not tiredness….YMMV obviously.

    D…he is a 2 year old afterall.
And then call up the husband say I cant take it anymore. I am leaving you :-) Where were you when THIS was happening. They are not just my kids…you get the drift.

  12. La Vida Loca says:

D if it is a rare occurrence.
    What did u do?

  13. Andrea says:

This reminds me of the brain teaser: A goat, wolf, cabbage and a boat!

  14. Chumi says:

try talking things out with him… it wont work at the 1st go… but it’ll eventually work out in the long run…

  15. Leslie/Lindseysmum says:

I have done the exact same thing you have except my 10 year old is actually only my 6 year old.

  16. Nat says:

I think I have done all of those depending on my patience levels and my 2 year old’s level of cooperation. Sometimes I just say, NO, your sister is sleeping, so walk. Sometimes I would say can you just walk up to that door, and then I’ll pick you up? I only have them too, so no one else to help.

Sometimes I would just wake my 5 year old up and have both of them walk, or try to pick both of them.

  17. choxbox says:
