How did this happen? When did I become the mother of a 10 yr old child? Where is the chubby baby? The one who would call out Mama when she needed to step on the sidewalk? The one who needed to hold onto my finger when climbing up on the swaying bridge thingy on the playground. The one who who was too afraid to even sit on a bike. The one who got the most love from nana/nani/dada/dadi/mausi/bua because she was the first grandchild on both sides.
She is(was?) my practice child. The one who got the most attention because she was the first. And now she emailed me her wish list. She also doesnt want a party. I am taking her, her 2 friends and Avasha to a movie and ice-cream on Sat.

Who hides in her room and reads for hours. The one who loves her brothers and reads to them. The one who at her first away camp missed me dearly and wanted to come home. The one who at age 3.5 was diagnosed with Duane Syndrome and upon putting her first pair of glasses told me not to cry because she was a female Harry Potter.
Its been an easy 10 years. She is the most joyous child. The easiest of the four. She hit each and every milestone when required. She crawled at 9 months, walked at 11 and spoke in sentences by the time she was 1.5 yrs old. She slept through the night and never gave us any complaints whatsoever.
Each parent conference has always been What a wonderful child she is. What a wonderful reader/writer she is. The only complaint the teachers have is her handwriting could be neater.(side note, NK despairs over this. I think its his Indian schooling. I dont care and say she is going to type most things, I am not making her write lines.) I only hope the next part of our journey will be as easy.
This was taken last year and is one of the few without her glasses.
