Ramblings..

NK(on phone with his parents): Aatishbazi bacho na dekha.

After he was done with the  call, I asked him what did the kids see. He looks at me like I have 2 horns and says fireworks. It sounds very similar to aatangwadi. He then shakes his head at me and mumbles  something.

Hey, that song has it too. Ishq par zor nahi hai yeh aatish.Isnt that the Dil Se song we just listened? (Thanks Shilpa) He then gets on his soapbox, That is a Ghalib poem and that aatish means spark and the spark doesn’t die and blah blah.

Okay but spark and terrorist , I dont really see a connection whatsoever.

NK: Tum mer saar(head) kyu kha rahe ho. Kuch khaam nahi hai kya.

——————————————

Okay that wasnt as funny as I expected but I have typed it out so deal with it. I also noticed whenever I do  pictures of my weightloss, I get the most hits on that day.

And who  unsubscribed  from Asaaan. Someone did! Come on, now fess up.

My leg today

My leg today

It was hurting really bad yesterday. I taped it up yesterday, hence the black marks. I still am not running or doing any cardio. At the gym, one of the women who I smile at everyday is a nurse and she looked at yesterday and said it looked pretty good. It isnt infected. What do I do about the blister? Pop it with a pin? Leave it alone?

    Catch no balls..
    And it looooks grosss

Me: Its too hard. no translation. Did you know aatishbazi is fireworks. Now you know! It does look gross. how come you are at work so early?

  2. Anjali says:

Oh my God! You poor thing. That looks incredibly painful! It reminds me of all the clips of Michael Jackson’s hair on fire that I’ve seen today.

  3. Prashanti says:

Leave it alone !! or better, LEAVE IT ALONE :)

    Take care !!

    Me:Left alone!

  4. Roisin Butler says:

dont pop that blister Sunita, thats how it heals, if you pop it or it gets popped watch it for infection

Me: Waves hello at Roisin. Okay no popping.although I am so tempter like a pimple thats on one’s face

  5. Miss M says:

Oh my Asaan, I hope it heals soon! Maybe you can put some ice over it? You’ll feel better.
Or maybe you’ve already tried that.

Me: Its almost a week old I think. I am putting antibiotic cream and letting it air.

    LOL @Aatishbazi bacho na dekha.
If it was me, I would’ve been like “Say crackers na! Why scare me like this?!”
    Too funny! :)

Me: Okay would you use that word in normal everyday conversation? Isnt fireworks or pataka easier? Who uses such Hindi?

  6. choxbox says:

    NO! dont pop it!

  7. SS says:

Hey don’t touch the blister. Leave it alone. Aatish means fire in persian. So aatishbaazi is fireworks. One of those foreign words which got incorporated in hindi.

  8. Aatankwaadi and aatishbaazi…. ha ha ha!
Don’t pop the blister, leave it alone, it will heal. It is ok to stay off cardio for a few days…….let it heal properly.

  9. Can’t you see a doctor?

Me: I should but its healing pretty well so I think I dont need too. I just want it to healed fast so that I can start running.

And I didnt know what atishbazi was..but then I’m a madrasi with limited hindi vocab :)

Me: I was paid that compliment you know, That I speak Hindi like a South Indian.

  10. shilpadesh says:

Leave the blister alone Sraikh or u will get an infection. Hope you feel better soon.

BTW ‘Ishq par zor nahi hai yeh aatish’ is from Satrangi re song from Dil se!

Me: ha! I knew I had the song wrong. Thanks for that. You really know Bollywood :)

  11. Anamika says:

LOL…Aatishbaazi is an often heard hindi word in India, especially hindi news and all that. Your lost in translation posts really crack me up.
    FYI:
    Aatishbaazi = Fireworks
Pataka = Crackers (But this will confuse your kids. They will wonder why their Dad is talking about Ritz and Goldfish.) :D

I can feel that temptation to prick the blister but dont do it. It will burn like crazy if it gets wet.

    Me: rofl at the crackers.

  12. Smitha says:

Aatishbaazi – My husband uses words like this – he uses proper Hindi :(

Me: NK claims he is from Nawabi place thats why he speaks such good hindi. roll eyes

Your leg does look painful! I wish i knew something you could try to make it better …Hope it gets better soon.

Me: The skin hurts when my foot is flexed. The blister popped overnight by itself or it subsided.

  13. Kris says:

never cover the burns as they convert to blisters…..
aur janab..hindi to hindi hai….chahe woh ko nawab ke muh se aaye ya koi unpad gawar….

Me: Na not to me. I was writing a reply here and then it got too long and so am editing my today’s post with that reply.

  14. suma says:

oooh that looks bad…hope its much better now :(

  15. tearsndreams says:

The burn looks worse than it did the first time. Hope it heals and leaves no marks.

Me:I doubt. I have horrible skin which scars very easily.

  16. Rohini says:

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. That looks painful. Have you had it looked yet?

  17. Isha says:

    Wah wah…
U think my hindi is so goood is it?We use pataka rite. Why so cheeem?
Alot of work so must come early and go back late…

  18. Tara says:

aatishbaazi is an urdu word i think and i sometimes love hearing or using urdu words :)
yes, dont pop it with pin or anything… let it be.. take care.

Me: You know how in the movies, they show the NRI learning Urdu words and applying it all wrong. Yup thats me sometimes with sometimes really rude results.

  19. Miss M says:

Exactly!! Who uses such hindi. Its soo ‘pure’. hehe.
Maybe your husband just wanted to tease you a little. :)

Me: Nah, he speaks that way to many people I know. He uses unheard of Hindi words.
