NK’s comment was that tum kya karate master ho kya red belt pahani ho

Today was an early day. I had 9 a/m dentist appts for both boys. Then gym, then lunch and then a thrift store run to find cheap belts. The kids and I left the house at 9.00 and came back at 3.30p/m. They are now vegging out in front of the TV and I am posting this. After reading all the style sites, I realised alot of them shop at thrift stores for belts/scarves/clothes/shoes. I decided that I would do the same. NK is disgusted with me but he is from India thats how they are.

I bought a really interesting kimono type shirt/dress which had a tag of  $98 and I got for $3.99.(I actually used Yelp to find out the best thrift stores in my area and I was not disappointed when I reached there) I got some belts and a long beaded necklace, which I have been looking.Moving along, this is todays outfit. I didnt have time to take a before but just imagine it all boring and hanging shapelessly. Its funny dressing up and people at the gym ask , oh you look nice today, Are you going someplace special and you say No,just normal random stuff. This outfit isnt even that dressy so I dont know what would prompt that. does that mean I have been a slob all this while?

Nice Nice !!! I see you’ve gotten seriously into this dressing up thing :) :)

Me:See how dedicated I am to blogging. This dressing up is my one week long experiment. Sunday to Sunday. The thing is to see whether I will continue beyond the week.

keep up the spirit there.. i would say experiment a lil with this dress.. honestly, i am not much a fan of red belt on this one :P

Me: I just said that line out to him and he told its a Amar Prem song.:)

i like the outfir except for the shirt. i think with ur new skinny figure a feminine shirt would have looked better.
the belt is lovely. i want one now.

Me:ohh I like your avatar. Very cool. Yeah I think tomorrow’s outfit is going to be something completely different.

  7. Poppy says:

I wouldn’t wear the belt, mainly because I’m shy to do anything radically different, but I’d say it’s definitely spiced up your look, otherwise it would have been all bleh as you said. Definitely attention grabbing in red.

Me:I have never worn belts like this. This is the first time I am wearing wide belts and scarves and such. So far, what I have found is people love and hate the same thing. :)

  8. You really are sprucing things up, love it!

    Hi!!

Came over from someone else’s blog….and enjoyed seeing all your outfits et al. Also remember seeing one of those on Fitness Fervor :-) Btw, I think White looks great on you, while black makes you look slimmer :-) Plus, you don’t look like a Mamma, especially of 4 kids..way to go!!!!

    Cheers…

I didn’t care much for the red belt with this combo. Like someone else said, a more fitting shirt would have gone real nice with those capris. Try out a dress before you are done with your week long experiment :)

Me: A dress huh? I just bought a maxi. Its difficult to run after my kids with a dress not to mention the many times, I sit hapzardly on the floor or how many time I bend down to pick Samar up.Maybe for my wonderful reader’s sake, I would put on a dress :)

Look how pretty you look! And your hair is down. I love the red belt. I think there are two things happening here that are outside the norm: 1) you gave your clothes shape and 2) color. Women often seem to become afraid of both shape and color as they get older, get thicker middles and lose that svelte college-girl look. But I think baggy clothes actually make people look bigger and thicker, and, let’s face it, kinda dumpy. So with the red belt, you’ve added both shape and a sense of color confidence to your outfit. To me, that belt says that you’re proud of how you look and you have the confidence in yourself to carry it off. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Me: Angie, you are like my anti-troll. I have been in the hiding behing baggy clothes. In fact most of my clothes are loose fitting. I do like this red belt though

  13. Miss M says:

You know.. I think the whole ensemble would look nicer without the belt.

But you are looking very nice nonetheless! :)

    Me:Thanks M

This outfit is the bestestest of the lot! Me thinks these streamlined pants look really good on you and red gives you a very nice chic look (even if its ‘just’ a belt). No-no-no to the non-fittish airy pants in the last post.

The red belt does add a nice touch to it!
