We stayed home today. I pottered around my little backyard. tending to my plants, harvesting my veggies. The kids filled spray bottles and washed my sliding doors for me.Washed up and had lunch. Simple relaxing easy going day.

My giantor spider plant. I trimmed the little offshoots and replanted those

The plant on the topmost shelf is a maidenhair fern and its dying. I am so so sad.You see the white vase, I draped our rakhis on it. What do you do with the used rakhis?

Yet more plants

Yet more plants

I have an obsession with plants. I have more in my little balcony upstairs. I bought most of these from people off from craigslist and about 60% of them, we moved from CO. If ever, we have to leave this country, I would be very depressed to lose my plants. Nk tells me not to get attached to them, but its hard not to. After harvesting my mint and meethi, I remember Rad‘s post about mint pulao. I made with some modifications and it turned really, really good. the girls loved it. The boys not so much and had hotdogs instead.

Not bad na for a person who didnt know channa dhal from toor dhal or ajwain from jeera.

The plants are beautiful. Especially with the wooden ladder / ledge setting. :) And yummy looking lunch there. [For a second there I thought the pickle was actually what your churned out from your mom's recipe and then the bulb lit. :P ]

Thank you for this post. I was going to suggest u to do a post on your plants after seeing your backyard in the outfit posts. I liked all the plants arrangements on the planks etc. You are really obsessed with plants and my husband thought i was the only one. i should show your post to him.
Even i have this habit of replanting from existing ones. And i too dont know what i will do when it is time for me to leave this country :-(

Me: Well hopefully we wouldnt have to move?:)

Do you need to keep harvesting the mint? i dont use much and have noticed it is not growing too well. Do you use fertilizers?

Me: I do keep harvesting or else it becames too straggly. I used the Miracle-Grow once 3 months. thats it.

Waa..I wish I had a green finger. The moment I walk next to a seed it commits suicide I think!

    Even Bamboo shoots :(

Me: rofl about the seed commiting sucide. Try a cactus? or a easy pothos/money plant

Me:It was really good. Thanks for that post!

There was a time when I would tend to plants and then somehow they started dying. Now husband calls me a plant nazi. :|

    Me:You plant killers you!

Very impressive! I don’t remember my elder sis ever interested in plants or such. Sometimes mom used to yell at us to water the plants. But remember how Baba had soooo many plants in our garden back at the old house. Loved that house.. I think it was that garden and Baba who got me interested in plants and gardening and weeding… I miss my backyard :(

Nice plants! Whats the recipes for mint pulao?

Me: Yeah Our old house was so so awesome. We had so much fin. you remember the huge mehendi tree? And the curry pata as well, right? The recipe is in the link. It was baiscally make the rice separate, and then blend mint/corainder/onion/ginger/garlic. Heat oil, add jeera and bay leaves, throw the mint paste, cook, cook and then turn off, add rice, stir stir and tada its done

Your plants look lovely. I started gardening only recently and it is a lot of work and a LOT of worry.

Me: I know, even a day or two of neglect can cause damage. I dont have a hose to my patio and it requires at least 5-6 trips to water them all. And not tomention emptying the indoor saucers.

  21. Titaxy says:

my goodness, this is heaven. can i come stay with you? :D ..i will help take care of all these :-)
