I saw this denim like leggings at Ross yesterday and for $4.99 I couldnt help but grab it.I saw this a while ago and wanted to re-create that look. Of course, she is much skinnier than me .

I didnt have a white blouse but never fear, when there’s a will there is a way. NK’s closet. The man with the many white formal shirts. The leggins were surprising very comfortable. I dont know whether I can pull off this look. It feels like a 18 yr old college kid to me. The long necklace though annoyed me. Samar kept grabbing it and it kept bouncing up and down when I was walking. But without it, the outfit looked boring though. What do you guys think? Yay or Nay? Perakath, Kris and Kenny ignore this post!

Shirt:NK’s..(latest fashion trend, raid your spouse’s wardrobe)

Leggings:Ross

Vest: Anne Klein Thrifted

Necklace: I bought this from a craft fair in Boulder. never wore till date

Bracelets:Ashwina’s. I had a wooden bangle but then it looked too matchy matchy.

Earrings. From India

Sandals from Kmart? Target? WHo knows?

Looks pretty. Me personally grew out of leggings a long time back. But I love the long leggings they sell in India to go with Indian kurthis

Me: I never wore them before.. I see them on young girls here though.

  2. Trish says:

I love the shirt and the accessories..but i dont think they work with the leggings..may be a longer white shirt with the leggings and same accessories?:)

Me: Thanks Trish! Will try your suggestion next time

  3. Renu says:

I actually like it and think it works….love the vest the most.
Would like to see it paired with other outfits.

Me: Thanks for your very formal comment!

  4. Angie says:

I love the top half, but I admit to not being a huge fan of leggings on their own (I think they’re cute under a skirt, though). But still, you look great!

Me: Like a short skirt and then the leggings. I think I need to pair this leggings with another one of more longer tunics type thing. But its really comfortable and didnt slide down or anything.

  5. Prashanti says:

Loved the vest/necklace/earrnings/shirt. Basically loved the top part. The leggings not so much. I would’ve preferred very dark jeans instead.

    You look pretty :)

    Me: Thanks Prashanti.

  6. Rohini says:

I’m not a big fan of leggings, though being pregnant has made me see that they have there uses (stretch, stretch, stretch)

I do think that leggings look better with loner, more fitted tops, otherwise the top looks over-bulky compared to the streamlined bottom.

Me: Yeah… I need to hunt for a longer top.

  7. Chikki says:

Okay so I’m totally into this leggings thing…and I’m a phat ass but still manage to do it! LOL. The key is to not wear them as jeans but as tights. Not sure if that helps. Oh and I also bought my leggings at Ross. :-)

Me: Will keep that in mind. For the next time.

I like the white top with the vest, was pondering whether my body would look good in a vest. Maybe you’ve inspired me to start posting daily outfits!! :-)

Me: YAY! Will you? Oh but do read my caution/warning to Poppins above

OH and are you ever on chat? Would love to talk to you sometime…i suck at blogging lately, but have so much conversation in my head. :-) And yes, you did know me way back when I was single!

Me: Yes.. I am google chat late afternoon. Sending you an email

  8. rathi says:

I love the combination, of the vest and the shirt , the shirt being your husbands looks a tad bigger for you . I love the colors used and it looked good on you just that it would have been lovelier with a shirt of the correct size . And i loved the accessories !
    Cheers !
    R

Me: Thanks Rathi. When I told him, my comments were that the top half looks good, he said of course, its my shirt thats why!

  9. Abha says:

legging with something longerwould be betta! but the shirt look, totally rocking!! the necklace adds a real nice touch! all in all you looking great!! :)

    cheers!

    Me: Thanks Abha.

  10. i cannot believe you said that. i dont know kris, am sure he is a nice enough guy, but to put me in a gang with him and perakath. they are guys!!! they can probably belch the alphabet!!! they probably think PMS is… oh heck! what is PMS anyway?
the ignominy, the ignominy. i am a delicate flower of a woman, they are… guys….. who can probably open beer bottles with their teeth…i … wilt in the sun…

oh alright, i feel proud of it, you know it. let me go wilt now.

Me: Pfft..You were the one who said I should stop posting my ponsy(pansy) accessories and go back to the Nike + graphs and then you wanted to buy the Dryfit shirts. remember. And Kris is my sole married male reader. :) Perakath could fart the alphabet I think.

  11. Neetu says:

Nice outfit. But what is that big hole inbetween your legs?
    -Neetu

Me: See I didnt know what to make of this comment. Then I looked at the picture and saw it was a hole in the wall. So its a hole..

  12. babiesanon says:

I suck at fashion but I do know that I’m not a huge fan of leggings except under a really long dress. But I like the white shirt and vest. And I must admit that you are a smart brave girl to try new looks. I am a scaredy wuss. And you’re encouraging me to try new stuff and break out of my current standard look.

Me: Its been a really cool experiment. I am glad I googled for that scarf when I did. Although you have to have a really thick hide to plaster twenty thousand pictures of yourself on the WWW. And to take trollish comments :) Rhino hide and teflon skin.. too thick and easy to slide off..

  13. I like I like. But I think jeans would look more awesome with this outfit. have never liked leggings somehow, but if you like it, then who cares??? Love your necklace… I want!!

Me: It was way too bouncy for me. I didnt really like it much.

  14. Smitha says:

I loved the top half too ! And I think that a short skirt would look better with the leggings!

I love the way you accessorize!

Me: Thanks Smitha. I realize that I do have really beautiful accessorizes which I never utilize till date.

  15. How about a slightly longer shirt? And it doesn’t have to be white. Since the waistcoat is a neutral colour, you could try a striped shirt or any other colour

Me: Hmm… I would have to look deep in my closet, ET

  16. Nat says:

I actually like these leggins. I’ve seen them around and I’ve seen girls(women) dressed in them, and they are rpetty cool. Much like skinny trousers, these arent only for the little size 4 girls. And I think they look good on you.

But, to me, the outfit just does not look right. The collar of the shirt is too high for you, it covers your boobs and waist, 2 of your best assets, and instead it shows your tighs to be actually bigger than they are, or than they are in other pictures anyways. Maybe a more feminine longer shirt would be better.

I hope I am not being too harsh, you would tell me if I was to shut my mouth, right? :)

Me: Nope not harsh. I am always open to suggestions. Its when people are rude that I get pissed. I didnt like the collar of that shirt. It was too stiff and yucky. Ohhh I have a long black flowing shirt I want to try the vest and maybe another white shirt on.

  17. She Started It says:

I actually like the leggings, but might like a slightly longer shirt and no vest. I think the vest is adorable, but shortens you up a bit, whereas the leggings make you look really tall.

Me: I feel the leggings made my thighs look like thunder thighs :)

  18. couchpapaya says:

i love the shirt/vest/beads thing u have going on but maybe it could be paired with dark skinny jeans? i think the leggings need a longer tunic/kurti type top.

Me: Yeah I thought so too. I dont have skinny jeans. Need to hunt for one.

  19. shilpadesh says:

Really the leggings were comfy? I would personally like a skinny pant/jean underneath….but you do pull off the leggings.

Me: This one was comfy. It is 90% cotton, 5% spandex and 5% polyester. :) The black one not so much.

  20. starry eyed says:

Looks nice…am thinking I should get myself a pair of leggings too to wear with a kurta. I paired one of Divya’s short tights with a Lucknowi kurti the other day and she looked so charming, I’m tempted to try it myself.

Me: Try it. and let me know how it goes.

  21. V says:

    Ditch NK’s shirts – wear a kurti/tunic with those leggings girl! :)

  22. tearsndreams says:

You know my sense of style could use a lot of polishing so go by what everyone else is saying but I personally like tights with slightly longer tops. the ones that are may be an inch above the knee. I have seen some women wear short knee length dresses (some times with a belt others that are fit on the bust and then flow) over shorts and I really like that look.
My SIL recently tried that look and looked great.
Okay since tights is my fav wear these days, let me see if I can find the links to some looks I like. Will post them here.

Me:You know that black dress I paired with the blue belt. I think it would go with this tights. Will try it next time I pull these tights out.

  23. I like the top part.

The leggings look too sheer! I think u can use these if the top hits mid thigh.

Me: They do look sheer in the picture but they are almost denim like though.

  24. CA says:

You are brave to try out new style … me.. not so much
But, personally didn’t quite like the legging with the shirt … I’d prefer a short skirt with the legging or perhaps hide the leggings under a long skirt :)
You do look confident and comfortable though … and thats most important.

Me: I am confident in most things I wear, even thought fashionwise they might suck.. But hey thats what fashion is right?

  25. Honestly, don’t much like this look with the leggings re..

A nice fitted tunic or a long shirt with a fancy belt would look cool !
A big contrast handbag to go with..you have many good ones in that category :)

Me: Yeah I dont think I will try his shirt with this leggings again. Will see what else I can drag from my closet depth

  26. AverageJane says:

Good going! I read somewhere that leggings (for adults) look good with tunics (or skirts) that are only about 2 inches above the knee (and not more). I thought that made sense and tried one outfit like that and I got a few compliments. So there, that’s some borrowed gyan from someone who is almost fashion unconscious. So take it with a bucket of salt. :)

Me: Hmm..what do I own that ends 2 inches above my knee.

  27. Shwetha says:

Not a fan of leggings. Longer, colored/printed tunic with a belt and dark straight legged denims would be better. Those chappals look great!

  28. Miss M says:

Like everyone else has said, I too like the shirt, the vest, the shoes. But maybe you could try this look with jeans. Or maybe black leggings.

That being said, I love the way you accessorize yaar!
I have BAGS full of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, bangles and what not! But I find it sooo hard to accessorize properly! Sheesh.

Me: What! You have bags full of stuff? Come one now you have to wear them and take pictures! It does get easier with time.

  29. Danielle says:

I think you look fabulous!!!! I wouldn’t change a thing…. WOW your readers are way more honest than mine….I don’t think I would want to know what they think of my fashion experiments! HA!

Me: waves hello at Danielle. My readers ha! They are a crazy bunch!

Thank you so much for linking me, you are super sweet, and I look forward to seeing more of your outfits.
    Danielle
    just my style

    Me :)

  30. Silvara says:

I liked the top half of the outfit but wasn’t too sure about the leggings. I perhaps would have loved this outfit more with maybe some wide-legged jeans/pants in the same colour to give a bit more balance :D

However I am so in awe that you are trying out different things – I stick to one silhouette, one colour…usually black too hahahah…so boring :P

Me: You need to start this daily outfit series and you will be hooked as well.

HA HA , THE DRESS IS VERY NICE BUT YOU NEED TO REDUCE 30LBS TO LOOK GREAT IN THAT !
I MEAN HOW CAN YOU WEAR A DRESS LIKE THAT !

  33. I meant your husband’s closet!

Me: Ah.. I will search his as well.
