This Glamour Article made a lot of sense to me. Why do we as women put ourselves down so much? Why when we look in the mirror, we have to suck in our stomaches and lament how childbirth ruined us all. I keep doing this..keep nit-pickingon myself. The thing is, I would never ever say the same thing to a friend. I would never say wow your boobs are touching your belly button. instead I might ask who’s her hairdresser since she always has fantastic hair(FYI no such friend exists I am making her up) Yet to my mirror, I would criticize my belly and jiggle my underarm.
Each time one of my clients said something bad about her body, I’d ask her to match it with a good thought. If she told me, ‘I have dimples on my thighs,’ I’d push her for something like, ‘My legs are strong and do what I need them to.’ If you feel silly saying it out loud, you can say it in your head in front of a mirror. The idea isn’t to constantly have ‘perfect’ thoughts or words—that’s unrealistic and draining. The goal is to balance the negative with positive.”
I want to do this. I want to say that I can ran 3.1 miles in 40 mins.(I might die later but I can do it) because I have muscular calves. I want to tell my inner criticizing fat bitch that yeah my boobs are saggy and maybe when I am 60, I can flip them back like the women on Nat Geog shows but I breastfeed all 4 kids and the younger 3 were b/f while I was pregnant. So Take that!
Today’s outfit was another experiment. I NEVER TUCK IN MY SHIRTS! Never.. But I did today. True I covered it with vest, but hey baby steps!
Shirt: TJ Maxx
Vest:Thrifted
Jeans:Gap, A friend gave it to me
White Skinny Belt:Thrifted
Black beaded bracelet :Thrifted
Necklace: Bangkok
You cant see it but the white sandals is what I wore

You look great. Slim and tall and toned and your smile has that warmth that is mostly there when u are around one of the kids.
BTW whats this thing abt Nat Geo? Something happens to something when we turn 60? Care to explain?
Me: Oh you know the Tribal African women who walk around topless and their floppy breasts are waving around. Thats what happens when one turns 60.
I read the article as well – it was useful and kinda eye-opening because i am so so guilty for doing all that over criticising to myself while going green with envy over other women’s figures.
Will try and be more positive – like if I covet someone’s athletic figure, I will say well my boobs are fucking DD’s and I’ll fill out a dress way better than you ever will
(perhaps not so bitchy but you get the drift)
Me: I do get it. We will try and be nice to ourselves as nice as we are to others
Congrats for doing something you never do, I like the jeans on you. Also I can relate to breast feeding the kids. I only did two and mine are little saggy lumps too. I really liked the article, it’s true that we are much harder on ourselves than we should be. Good luck with your weight loss.
Me: Thanks. First leggins and now tucked in shirts. What will I do next?:)
Very nice! Very very nice. Love this outfit!
Hoy! You are looking hot in this pic! Why dont you smile in every pic?
Me: I dont know. I try but then end up always having a strict face
You look smokin’ hot! I love this outfit, you should tuck in the shirt although I think it would have looked more fab if you had let your hair down
Me: My hair is a mess. I need to go get it cut!
Hey!! That outfit looks great on you. You should try the shirt-tucked-in look more often.
Me: I have this awesome turquoise skirt I am going to try it with next. Thanks Neha
looks like you are hiding something in the other hand
yes, we must balance the negativity with positivity.. we shall try.. wish us luck!!
Cheers
Me: I had the lens’s cap.
brilliant post dear, I agree with everyword u said… we need to be more +ve with ourself

I love this outfit. Absolutely love it S. One of the best amongst all the ones I have seen so far. You looking hot mamma!!! And what do you not like about yourself, come on tell me tell me now!!!
Me: My arms, and my tummy
Just visited the site a couple of times..but great work. And me KNOWS what you o thru when u write this post. But the tucked in t shirt is looking fab! I am told repeatedly that I am in pretty decent shape and clothes do look good since I gym regularly- but NAH! Everytime I look in the mirror I can only see the fat on the tummy, etc etc
Me:See, we need to combat that attititude. You have say something positive from now.
Oh Lookie!!! An yummy mummy
You look abs GORGEOUS in this outfit.
Hey this outfit looks really really good on you!!!!
Wow!this is the outfit I like the BEST…those jeans look great and the top tucked in makes you look very streamlined. If you don’t mind me asking, why don’t you wear your hair differently? Is it long or short?
Me:See explanation to Overacupchaii’s post. My hair just annoys me.
Oh,let me say this again, you look very very good…”yummy mummy”status has been bestowed.

the article is brilliant and a eye opener
and u look ohlala
PS: terrific header
Love the attitude, as always
And the article. Now – lets talk hair. You always have it pulled back. I have no idea what length you have, but have you ever let it down?
This is coming from someone who still wears a ponytail at 30.
Me: It just annoys me. I think in my post at http://styleperdiem.wordpress.com/. I have it down. Its just about neck length, so really short and a huge mess. I dont know what to do with it.
Ahh well said. You look awesome! The pants fit well and I like the tucked-in-shirt look!
I have a doubt
How can you breastfeed the three younger kids while you were pregnant ?????
It shud be the three older kids rite.. coz u werent pregnant when samar was here ???
Me: It was a confusing statement to write and explain. So I was b/f Avasha, pregnant with Neil and then b/f Neil and pregnant with Samar and then b/f Samar. The age gap between Ashwina and Avasha is 3 yrs and some months, so no in between b/f there. The younger 3 are all 2 years apart..when Samar was born, I had a 4 yr old, 2 yr old and a infant. Dark, dark days.. I dont think I slept much those days.
I once calculated how months I was pregnant, how many months I b/f and did a percentage of my life thing.
I am confused about your blog. Is it a mummy blog? A fashion blog? A fitness blog? You have no order or sense of posting. Most blogs have weekly stuff like Wordless Wed when the author posts a picture on Wed. Why don’t you follow a set posting schedule.
Me: Hmm why do I have to define what is my blog? I am a mum. I am trying to get fit. I got the idea for daily outfits when I was doing a random google search. I write aboout MY LIFE. And thats what this blog is about. MY LIFE!! However boring or crazy it might seem
And I am not like most blogs, or for that matter, like most blog authors
Monday- Daily Outfit
Tuesday-About Your Kids
Wednesday-Weightloss
Thursday-Fitness
Friday-Random anything you want
Me: Okay seriously? Get your own blog and follow that guideline. I post things as and when I like. Having a schedule might make blogging seem like a chore. What if on Thurs I wear a cute outfit? Do I wait till Mon to post it? I am instant gratification person. I write post and publish them instantly. So thanks for the idea. Thanks for delurking but no go on the idea.
Being nice to ourselves makes so much sense, actually.. We are, our own worst critics, aren’t we?
Me: We are. And you know its difficult to look in the mirror and find one nice thing to say about yourself. As I was brushing my teeth last night and was looking at my face, these were my thoughts, you have nice eyes but holy cow look at your eyebags. Then I looked at my nose, and said what are those 3 bumps on there for. Then looked at my double chin. By then I gave up and quietly continued brushing my teeth
I love your attire! You look fabulous! By the way, I have been shopping for accessories – totally inspired by you
Me: YAY. Post pictures!
Yes, we are sometimes too harsh on ourselves. And we need to change that.
But I dont agree that we are more forgiving when it comes to others. Dont we look at someone and think “why doesn’t she dress age appropriately” or “her hair looks messy today” or whatever. We do pass judgements about others. Just that we keep it to ourselves.
Me: Hmm strangers maybe but when its friends..we always tend to look with a forgiving eye. KWIM ?
Coming to today’s outfit, I loooooooove the vest. So biker jacket like!
Me: I like it a lot. Its kind of snug now when zipped up but I am hoping in the next 6 months, it will fit better
Guilty as charged! I also run myself down almost all of the time. It’s like when I look in the mirror I see only flaws. But I am going to consciously work on that attitude now. Thanks for the link.
Me: I am always good at PSA
I love the tucked in look, makes you look slimmer. I think I’m gonna try the tucked in look too!
Me: Try it!
Just saw the pic and came here to say ” Awesome!”
Not just the attire, that emerging little smile makes it even more beautiful
Back to read the post now.
awesome outfit. The best so far!
And I’m nodding so much my head it spinning, so I’ll stop. Concur like mad.
Cool site, love the info.
you look awesome girl
