The party is over. Any party is stressful, whether you invite 8 families or 80. From the venue, to the theme to the food to party favours. I did everything except the cake. the cake was delegated to NK. He went and ordered it with the boys. When I opened the cake box, my friend and I burst out laughing. It was either that or start crying. It was a white cake with white icing. It cost us $40. A cake from Costo which would have looked so much better would have been twenty thousand times better. Not to mention about $20 cheaper. Here is pictorial proof of the cake.

I like to think my friends had fun. I think they did. The kids had fun. We played 3 games and then they was running around. I served store-bought samosa, spinach dip with rice chips, cheese platter with crackers and fresh fruit. We also ordered pizza.

But the party seems like fun…the boys look happy!

Me: Nk claims there was language problem. He came up with, its the Ice Age cake. I seriously didnt know what to do with and wanted to kill for screwing it up. I put a picture of Samars cake,which i baked.
i think either NK or the cake person had a Yash Chopra fixation…white chandni white.

Me: It was boths. Neil’s was 3rd Oct and Samar’s was 10th. I threw a combine birthday party. How long do you think they will wear matchy matchy shirts
Men shall always be men. You can count on them to screw up the little bit they need to manage, and then they crib about us for nitpicking. I think the party must have been good. I am sure the kids had loads of fun, and hence your effort was quite worth it!!

at our last party – the ijeets put the icing while the cake was still warm and the person who went to pick it up of course didn’t bother to check. 5 min before the cake was to be cut i saw it and grabbed two packets of cadburys gems and sprinkled them all over the cake, much to the delight of the birthday kid!
Me: That sounds pretty. I’m sure the kids loved the “gems”
LOL!!! Even before I read ur blog.. I saw the “white” cake and thought perhaps ur boys have decided upon no color cake this year and U had to grudgingly oblige!!! Bless ur friends who added the Dinos on the cake to make it look teenie-weenie better…
But at least the party’s over… I agree with u abt not having a party at all… I feel I end up entertaining people who dont need it while not paying 100% attention to the bday baby… Anyday, a dinner, movie, bowling etc with family is better than entertaining isnt it..
Me: It does take attention away from the child. The good thing I guess was, no one cried at my party. All the kids had fun running around. So that makes up for the cake.
I was looking forward to pictures of the outfit. If there wasn’t a child to consider, I would have thrown the cake back at the husband’s face.
Me: I actually stormed out to scream at him. And then stormed back in.If I wasnt the way I was, I think I have might started crying and screaming at him.

Me: I made Samar’s cake. He is allergic to almost everything hence the cake which taste like cardboard.

Me: When I asked him, he said party hogaye cake bhi kaa liya app uska baare mei baat nahi karo.
Didn’t NK bother to check the cake before brining it home?
Me: He did. When he came back to the party, he said the cake isnt right. I was busy with things and said I will look at it later. I didnt glance at the box until it was time to bring the cake out.

I did everything for Bubba’s 1st birthday. My MIL says she’ll do the cake. to keep the peace I agree. She says it’s in teh shape of number 1 and is gorgeous. It arrives. UGLY blue/green in colour and well looks like a square to me…with to tiny blue green roses on it (u can see it my FB photos). I could have just died. She paid a lot to the person making it too. I had 60 guests and tiny ugly cake. Thank goodness we had enough food. Cos it was my MIL i had to cut that cake. I was so mad. ahh. I still am.
