Sur wrote about her awesome friends who do things that people with kids arent suppose to do.I was actually writing about how we as a family always are outdoors. I hate going to amusement parks. I hate paying through my nose for tickets and then waste time, waiting in lines. A friend called me and told me about $9.99 deal to a local park. Without even asking NK, I refused saying we were not interested. I called her back the next weekend and asked her to come to the beach with her. Her response, bache bore hojaye ge.(kids will get bored) Seriously at the beach? With the sand and water? Not to mention this particular beach we went to had fantastic driftwood which my kids pretended were forts.
*End of rant*
Nk worked yesterday and I took all 4 kids to the beach by myself. They climbed the sand stuff. They explored the caves. Then they went to play on the large pieces of driftwood. We spent 4 hours there and I took about 180 pictures. I even brought my tripod and remote and set it up.
Today, Monday the kids had the day off from school and we went to another park. There was a huge playground The youngest child is being potty trained and had an accident. I had clean underwear but no pants. So he walked around in his underwear nonchalantly as if wearing underwear is the latest fashion.I know some of them other moms gave me looks but really who cares. What do I do? Let him wear his wet pants? Go back home? Bah! It made a really cute picture. I took 180 pictures yesterday and 200 today. Because of the lense I had rented, I wanted to make full use of it before returning it. It was interesting to say the least. I realize I am not an abstract photographer, I cannot look at a piece of driftwood and compose a shot. I need faces in it. I love taking pictures of my kids.Especially Neil who poses willingly for me. I love his eyes. I took 20 pics of him at this swing alone. Now I need to print some and put it up in my house.
They spent 45 mins throwing mud/rocks in the water. I hope they remain this way. Instead of crying to go to the mall or a movie, they would want to go for a hike. Instead of going to Disneyworld, they would clamor for camping in Big Sur.

Very Very Very cute pics !!!! Samar in his chaddi steals the show and one where the three are facing the other way is very nice too. They would look great in your home.
captain underpants seems happy with his lot. forget the judgemental moms, if an 18 year old does it she is celebrating the body beautiful, if a two year old does it raised eyebrows hainjee??
Me: I dont know abt the raised eybrows. Maybe because it was getting kinda chilly. Maybe it was the 4 kids. Who knows.
Kids and beach are awesome combination … so I thought till a few days back. Cantaloupe now refuses to come to the beach … I know once I drag her out of the house and we land at the beach, she will have loads of fun. Now with Junior over one, its time I allow her the pleasure of dirtying her dress with sand / water
Hello,
Very nice pics here. All the pics have a sense of peace
Nice to know that the kids love playing outdoors…
and calm about them.
Samar looks cute
Me: It was chaotic. 4 kids and peace do not go hand in hand
I totally agree. Amusement parks are totally not worth it. Kids should learn to enjoy simple, natural things. And seriously, what can be more fun than a beach!
When we were kids my father would refuse to waste time and money by taking us to “exhibhitions” or amusement parks.. He instead spent every single holiday of his trekking across Bangalore to find the elusive parks back then.. When he found one of these, he would make Amma pack a mini picnic basket & carry some board games..And we would not even realize how time went by!
Those are some of my fav childhood memories
Me: I hope my kids would have the same wonderful memories as you have.
all the way with you and verry nice pix!
Is that dinosaur tattoo left over from the party?
Me: yup!
Yes I agree with you..outdoors are so much fun..Anushka went wild at the pasir ris playground..In fact she loved one particular PG at mom;s place and once she even gave directions to Dad on how to go there..Dad was amazed! Very beautiful pics..n yup mom sure gets mad at those type of pics..
so true S! even i read sur’s blog and thought we really underestimate kids’ ability to have fun in natural surrounding!
you know i prefer taking cub to park or a picnic in open spaces rather than a play area in a mall! for one it costs too much money and it can get seriously addictive! everytome we have gone on chhuttis to resorts, he hardly plays in the so called kiddie area. he is happy to explore the open spaces and thing in them!
cheers!
Such lovely pictures! And I totally agree with you – outdoors are so much fun! Sand and water are more than enough for us too
I just wish we had a beach nearby.
We go for long walks – there are lots of walking trails and we make full use of it – whenever the weather permits.. Malls are probably the last resort for us.. Thankfully, daughter loves the out doors too.
I like your idea of fun. Pics have come out well. Esp the chaddiwala pic
awesome pics,Sunita
And seriously..how can kids get bored at the BEach!!
once again! Beautiful kids and beautiful pics…
i love the one with their backs turned…so well composed…between the two poles.
Good ones
I love the pictures.
How fun! Samar looks totally adorable in his chaddi photos
Suni, my daughter absolutely loves beach. We as a family go to beach often and never get bored. How can one get bored of beach. It has the most natural toys for kids to play.
Me: I dont know how can one get bored. We didnt get in the water since it was too cold
Love those pictures! Adorable kids *touchwood*
Happy Birthday to dear, Neil! Read the other post too and saw the beautiful White cake that NK picked.
The beach looks great and I agree with you…give me a hike and a creek any day. We went on a drive last week and stopped at a creek and threw rocks for 1/2 hour with out any issues! It was so peaceful (and very cheap!). Then while driving home we saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs. Amazing!
Me: Ohh I dont think I have ever seen a wild bear. Deers are plenty here but apparently mountain lion though i doubt one would come out on the streets
awesome pics.. especially love the throwing mud.. what fun!! I bet you joined in too
Me: I threw some rocks.
Uber-cuteness
V.v. cute pics…Samar looks most comfortable;)
My kids, aged 15 and 14 still enjoy the great outdoors and seriously, what better than sand and water and a very cool mom!
Lovely pics. Totally agree that kids can have a lot of fun and learn a lot without going to the exorbitant kiddy parks. I know many parents who almost do only kids stuff these days, plan vacations to only places with amusement parks and such in the fear that the kids will get bored otherwise. Sometimes I want to ask them if they don’t miss doing (so-called) adult stuff but then they view me as being selfish and not doing enough for my kid.
your pics looks great! maybe u can photoshop NK into that christmas card pic.
Wow, looks like a lot of fun. If you go again on a weekend, let us know!
lovely pictures!
and you can rent lenses??? wow- i would have loved that.
Me: Yup.Its from this http://www.borrowlenses.com/page/about. Since I am a local, I dont pay shipping charges and it was $39.99 for a 4 day rental! For a lense that costs close to USD$1000..:) I was happy. This way I can experiment with what kind of lenses to buy.
and there are people out there in the world who wonder what children would do on a beach???? heavens! and i tripped on your kids making the dirftwood out to be forts et al
Me: crazy people. We spent 4 hours there. With no one else and their sand toys abandoned.
