All it took was one awesome haircut and some dude hitting on you at Starbucks. I went for a haircut this morning. At a salon which comes with free wine(which I didnt get because it was 10 in the morning) And it wasnt that expensive. $45 for a wash/cut/dry is pretty reasonable I think.
After the said haircut, I had time to kill but not enough time to go shopping at my fav thrift store. So I walked to the Starbucks and ordered a chai tea latte and sat down with Chrestomanci II. Ten mins later, a guy sits down in the sofa next to me. I look at guy and smile. Guy smiles back. We sip and read our respective materials. My phone dings. I take out said phone to check email. Conversation continues below
Guy: Oh what kind of phone is that?
Hot Sraikh with New Haircut: G1. Blah blah
Guy: Oh I have Iphone and these apps
HSNH(I sound like a freaking Channel): Talks about her favourite games and app on the G1
Awkward pause:
Guy: So where are you from? Fiji?
HSNH: Nope Singapore, Indian blah blah
Guy: Oh I been to Indonesia/Bangkok Blah Blah Blah Btw I am Greg* takes hand out to shake*..
HSNH:Okay I am Sraikh. then takes out cell phone to look at time and realises she better leave so as not to be late to pick youngest child up
Greg: Oh you have to leave. It was really nice talking to you. Why dont you give me your number and I’ll call you sometime
HSNH:smiles the most blushingly smile she ever smiled(as I typing this I am smiling the same way) Hmm…I am married and not only I am married, I have 4 kids. 10 and under. You made my day though!
Greg: This always happens to me. Have a nice one. Fun talking to you
Sraikh floats away and then is brought back to reality with the sight of her dirty minivan. I went back to school and everyone ohh and ahh over my cut. I went to pick up the girls from the elementary school and everyone ohh and ahh over the haircut. But then everyone is nice and no one is going to tell hey you had a horrible haircut. NK’s reaction to the haircut was “Tum to socialite type lag rahi ho” and his reaction to guy hitting on his wife. He must be doing it to everyone he meets. followed by oh he is jobless and has nothing better else to do.Why else would he be at Starbucks on a weekday. Then he said he must be a bartender. tumko aise hi milte hai. Yup, that is called marriage.

This is how I was actually dressed this morning
My fav jeans
White Tank top: Anne Klein Thrifted
Silver Layered Chain-Thrifted
Sliver Bangle ebay
Sandals: Target
Which do you guys prefer? The tied up or the belted one?

LOL…
But the hair is too flat la
U look nice though,.. Fresh and young!
LOVE your hair! LOVE IT!!!!! and you are now trebly smokin hot !!! expect more pickups, and NK is just jealous!!
hayeee lovely. are you really a char bacho ki ma?
i liked the knotted version better!
i like your positive attitude!
Men will always say things like that (I mean NK). Thats being macho! Guess you cannot tell the girls about it, will be interesting to hear their reaction…maybe in a few years time, when you still Hot Mamma?
Me: Kenny, in a few years, men will be hitting on Ashwina.Sigh.. I would be standing there to ward them off.
Very nice! A haircut will do it for ya everytime! I think that we feel so fresh n young n free with the haircut…the hot dudes get attracted
You know what that dress is not doing justice to that hair cut … I think the Cardigan is a size big
Did you forget that with all the gymming you have lost weight
Me: Its a M and it did feel way too loose. I might return it. Something about the draping and the way it bunched up put it me off.
Are you feeling light after the cut ? If you are confident about your cut, nothing like it.
Me: It does feel lighter.
I like the knotted version too. Great look! Love the haircut but wish we coulda seen a close-up. That’s awesome about being hit on. Was he cute at least??
oooooh love it very very much – like the sleekness and the otufit rocks as well
hahha i once had a group of teenage boys do a low wolf whistle and go “daayyyyym – look at that ASS!”. they would have been like 17 (and me like 23) but it made my day
esp since my ass is HUUUUUUGE
Me:
Haha that’s nice… “Why dont you give me your number and I’ll call you sometime”. Sounds quite smooth. I should remember that.
Me: I thought so too. It was nice and easy without sound desperate and cheap?
im so glad u had a good day
tied up looks cute!
Haircut looks cool and guy hitting on you awesome
Sigh, I’ve never had anyone hit on me, though I’ve always wanted someone to, just to be able tell my husband about it
AWESOME!!!
you tell em hot mama!!
and trust me, hubby’s always get affected by attention we get! whether they show it or not!
and i LOVE the knotted version. and you really should but a straight cut jeans to go with the flowy belt look!
hugs!
Hee hee. Poor guy Greg. But he sure made your day. Nothing boosts the confidence more than a cute guy hitting on you
This makes me want to travel alone nicely dressed up, just to check if I still have it in me
Me: He did.
Nice hair cut..hey this might be the second time that someone said u are from Fiji, rite? Nali is jealous!
Me: Yup. Alot of Fiji Indians here plus I am taller(bigger) than average Indian girl so I guess thats why.
I’ve always liked straight hair. I used to do hair straightening once in a year when I was in university. Did you straighten your hair? Is it temporary or permanent? Just curious…
Me: She used a flat iron on the sides. I have a flat iron and planning to do the sides when I get time. Do you remember when Japanese rebonding was popular in Singapore/Malaysia. I did that in 01? It was nice at first and then I started losing so much hair.
I liked the knotted version better and I like the colour too.
Psst, you don’t look like a mother of 4 kids at all. NK is jealous;)
Me: Thanks Maddy.
Nice nice haircut and the proof of your hotness is the cute guy! hehe! S would have said he talked to you because you looked weird!
Me: Nk said that afterwards.. I told him my “readers” said he was jealous and he said you and your readers ajeeb ho.
you look awesome!! haircut is great! and nk has NO CLUE.
and i def like the knotted version better.
just wanted to tell u- i’m 31. have yet to get married, definitely want to have kids..and already look like minimum 1 bacche ki maa- belly et al. i don’t really take care of myself- and at 31, its beginning to sink in. i definitely want to get into shape before i get pregnant whenever that happens. but you inspire greatly- both in your wt loss efforts and in your effort to take care of your appearance. it inspires so much confidence in someone just reading your blog- i can’t imagine how great it must make u feel.
keep it up!
Me: Aww T. You are so nice. It took me quite a while to get here. I was a mess before and still am times… I think as women we are so hard on ourselves.
Lovely haircut and I like the tied version better
Lovely Lovely hair !!!!! You’d fit right in in Page 3
. I loved the belted look
woww!!Very nice!!me like.
AndI like the knotted version too!I love this green!
Oh nice haircut – Though I reserve final judgment until you wash it yourself! In my (bitter) experience, most haircuts look lovely when fresh from the hairdressers – it takes daily usage to determine if the cut is really good!
I prefer the belted look.
M
Me: I didnt wash it yet but I styled it today and it looks decent. Next week’s daily outfit will reveal the truth.
Hey gurl,
You are looking good in new hair cut….make sure to keep it tat way always.
My hair looks awesome when i get a hair cut and lasts until i wash – after that until and unless i put in effort , it’s pathetic
Me: I took care with it today. Let’s see how long it lasts!
Btw, liked with the belt.
Arreeh wah! Guy’s started hitting on you ….BLUSH:)….I am sure NK is jealous or poor guy he must be possessive, either way it’s good . Only people
who love you talk the way he answered ….Lucky You!
Me:
the tied up version is my choice. Way to go girl! Ignore the hubby and bask in your moment of joy and keep the smile right where it is
Love the haircut ..you look much YOUNGER ! Also prefer the belt look .
I liked the knotted version. Would like to see a close up of the hair cut.
ROFL at ur husband’s words of wisdom…hee married men speak the same language every where I think.
Me: I think so too. ALl married men are the same.
OMG I was laughing so much when you described urself as a freaking channel…me loved that.
Ok so now that you have got a haircut and no one is saying anything bad I think will go and get my curly hair chopped too…
You look younger for sure after that haircut!!
Me: Ohh got go get it cut!
Ooo…Sexay! I am not surrised with the guy hitting on you at all..ad NK is just making it sound normal. You know how J he must be in the head..hehe.
The hair behaves so well and is perfect on the haircut day……be sure to maintain it and set it up well on other days too.
Me: I know! She showed me what to do and I am hoping I will keep it up. I purposely made it short in the back so that I dont fall back on my tie up in pony.
u knw what sraikh.. i happened to have a haircut jus before my daughter’s 1 st bday party.. gave 35$jus for a haircut and when my hubby said it didnt look good,i jus broke down into tears…but ur haircut looks cool…. im sure more guys are goin to hit on u wherever u go… going to make ur hubby more jealous…and i like the knotted version of the dress..
Me: Men are dumb. Seriously. ignore him and flaunt your new haircut!
id have been waiting for the “smile – you’re on candid camera” moment.
