I thought I wouldn’t have a Monday Moneysaver. I hadn’t gone to the thrift store in a while nor had to time to follow any signs. But never fear, the Garage Sale Queen never fails.
I packed the kids up Sat morning. We went to museum/beach/huge playground place pretty close to our house. On our way there, I saw a church’s rummage sale advertised. And there was street parking available right in front of it so we stopped and went inside. It was pretty late in the afternoon and there was hardly anything left.
I went over to the clothes and was looking through the pile and found the black corduroy jeans above. Now you might have realise though I have many tops and blouse, I don’t have that many jeans. My body type is such that I have to look long and hard and try stuff on before I find a jeans that fits. I looked at the brand of the above corduroy and it wasnt one I heard of. I put the waist around my neck(Are you guys aware of this tip, if it fits around your neck, it will most likely fit your waist) and it fit. I asked the price and IT WAS 50 CENTS. I bought it. The entire lot on the table was 50 cents each. I bought a few things and spent a grand total of $2. The long sleeve shirt I am wearing is from that pile as well.
Came home, threw it in the laundry and wore it on Sunday. What do you think?

Long Sleeve Gap Shirt: 50 cents church sale
Vest:Thrifted
Black Jeans: 50 cents church sale
Gold Ballet Flats: Thrifted
Green Necklace: Thrifted. I have had this one for a while but have never found the perfect outfit for it. It’s a pretty loud statement necklace and almost everytime I put it on, I remove it for it either clashed or just didnt looked right. What do you think of it here?
Entire lot is thrifted.. I want everyone to know again for the record, that Nk hates me buying thrifted stuff and I continue ignoring him. I told him, even if we were to become super-rich(HA), I would still continue thrifting.
My sister thinks I look chubby in this picture and should take it down.

I like the green necklace with this one.

I think the waistcoat was extra on this outfit. The necklace is pretty awesome, and I feel like it would have shown much better the simplicity of the outfit without the waistcoat. But that’s just my opinion, and I am no stylist:)
Me: I need to hide the ample love handles, hence the vest.
And I don’t think you look chubby. You have a nice womanly shape to you, even though you’re hiding away with the waistcoat
If I had to get you’re about a size 10 US? I hope I am not wrong, or I’ll never be able to comment again!:)
I can’t click on the photo to get it bigger anymore, so I cant have a close up. I think I have the same trousers, I love them!
Me: yup a 10 although sometimes, I can squeeze into a 8.
My drea is to fit into a size 6..sigh.
I like it. And your sister is wrong. Not only is she wrong that you look chubby, she’s also wrong in telling you to take it down even if you DID look chubby. Body confidence is about feeling good about yourself in all shapes and sizes, and the people around you should celebrate that, not tear it down. Shame on her!
Me: My sister is going to be upset with me tomorrow
I think she wants me to put nice photos of myself..Myabe? She is a skinny skinny gal herself who was chubby growing up. We all 4 have body issues. But since I have tons of body confidence, not only do I put it up .. I mention the fact that I might be chubby in it. I told her its camera angle.
I wish I could reply to my own comment.
Why don’t you invest in one of those body control lingerie? You cna get one that looks like udnerwear at the bottom as opposed to shorts, and it goes up like a bra. Spanx maybe they are called over there? I don’t see any love handles, as such, you’re aren’t stick thin but you look proportionate with nothing sticking out. Give it a try, it might be a bit expensive, but it will make you feel a bit more confident in opening up that area instead of always trying to find ways to cover it
Me: Must set up nested comments. Ohh those things hurt. They arent very comfortable and I am all about comfort.
I charge by the hour for my opinions, LOL
Love the pant and the green necklace.
‘If it fits around your neck(?!) it will fit your waist’, this statement completely flew over my head.. Does that mean the circumference of neck = that of the waist? Pray elaborate..
Me: Dude are you doubting me?

Now go and grab a pair of pants and try. In fact try it with every pants you own. And then come back to thank me.If they overlap too much, it means its going to be too loose. If the seas dont meet, means it wont zip. I have never been wrong so far.
No no not doubting… Just clarifying
I understand the concept now that its been illustrated with pics.. Thanks for that time saving tip!
Me: Did you try it? Did it work?
Yes it worked mostly
My 2 cents..-colour suits you… so that green necklace is a great touch.
I also wasn’t clear on the neck-waist thing-do you hold the waistband around your neck..something I’m going to try as soon as you clarify so that I don’t pull the pants over my neck and make a fool of myself:))
Me: Click on the link in my comment to Mads. and it has pictures. and try it. Its kinda hard to exlain it.
A friend in college told me about this, and for at least two weeks after that I insited everyone I know try it. It really does work remarkably well, and I still do this ( with a lot of weird looks from other shoppers) if I dont have the time to try them on or the energy to drag 2 kids and stroller into the dressing room.
Me: right, I dont know where I read it and it works extremely well on pants. Skirts not so much but if its something that costs $1-2 and no where to try, I buy it if the neck thing works.
