Apparently, NK coming back equals to less blogging time. I don’t know how but it does. I have been busy,so busy my sisters asked why wasn’t I signed onto chat. So busy, I haven’t worked out in 3 weeks and counting. So busy that I haven’t taken a single daily outfit picture. (The weather has been cold, rainy and just gloomy)
The big news I hinted at,WE ARE MOVING! Well its just up(maybe its down) the street but but it has a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. The neatest thing about it, it is in an church. So we are guaranteed a spot in heaven. Never mind the fact we are Hindus.small technicality there.
Okay maybe that wasn’t the most exciting news to you guys! I already started throwing recycling things. I sold our sandbox, a huge box of yarn and a train table that the boys dont use as much. I have 3 groups, sell, donate and throw.
I can start moving in boxes from the 26th and we have to leave our current apt by the 3rd.Blogging might be even more sporadic then.
Moving along, we have our tree. Every year, I question this. The setting of the tree, the writing of the note to Santa, the presents for the kids. Christmas to me,growing up in Singapore, meant a fmaily BBQ. When younger, it was a lavish affair. My dad’s friends would come and there was everything from King Crab to lobster. Massive amounts of satay and alcohol was consumed(obviously not by me). Later on, it became a family affair at the beach. I havent been to one in the past 12-13 years since getting married.(oh I might have in 03). It was family, food and fun. No where was Santa and presents involved. No where.
My kids write notes to Santa. The 5 yr old wants a DS..the 7 yr old wants some craft thing. The 10 yr old, god knows what she wants. The 3 yr old wants Dinosaurs. I think the girls now know the whole Santa thing but am playing along for the boy’s benefit. We debated this whole the first year we moved to AMERICA and we decided Santa and Christmas tree were allowed. Easter Bunny.. yeah he can hop onto the next house.

The tree looks pretty pretty. YAY for the new house. A dishwasher and the washer/driver will do lots of good to you. The new place we live in now doesnt have a washer and I HATE doing laundry. That is som’s fixed job
Me: Mine does his own laundry. We agreed on this years ago. I dont do his clothes. No washing/ironing or putting it away. No fights.
Yay !! i am first
Happy moving! Isn’t it great to throw out stuff?!
Me: It is.
Me too! Nothing makes me happier than throwing stuff away.
Me: And/or selling and donating.
First of all, that tree looks awesome. I loved reading about your christmas tradition.
We got a tree when S was 3 years old, a small tree that was her length! This is the third christmas we just put it up. She wants a pink high heeled boots this time.
Good luck with the move.
Me: I want pink heeled boots as well.
he he happy moving
i have been thinking of decorating the xmas tree which grows in my garden too….debating lets see
Me: Do it. the kids had so much fun yesterday
You are moving into a church? huh? lol. please explain hahaha
Yup, the apt is owned by the church. My landlord would be the church.
It has his own side entrance and all…
The church was actually a old country club back in 20s and the top floor(where the apt is) was the dining halll, I think. It has the most gorgeous beautiful windows and hardwood floors.
I will put a teaser picture in the next post. I cannot wait to move in
PS:Admin always cracks me up
wow S! Sounds lovely. Can’t wait to see how things go. I’m sending u good vibes with all the packing moving unpacking drams . xoxo
Me: Thanks Dugi.. I am selling so much of my crap, its amazing.
happy moving! must be fun and hectic
oooh! happy moving!! may the hindu household owned by Church get its blessings from Santa!
i think its cool you celebrate Christmas!! no reason why you shouldnt! the point of any festival is get together and have fun! and some gifts! so who cares what religion you are?!
have fun!
cheers!
ps: admin cracks me up too!
Oooh-la-la-the new apt looks great!!Can just imagine “doing it up”-what fun!
And Yay! to you celebrating Christmas-it’s all about making memories for the kids and hoping they will pass on your sense of tolerance and open-mindedness to their own kids someday.
Cheers of the season to all of you…
Congratulations on moving house! I can see how excited you are!
Your christmas tree is lovely! The kids must have had a ball of a time putting up the decorations! That was the highlight of my daughter’s life here
Christmas – we have been having a great time, watching daughter enjoying Christmas for the first time. I think it is a lot of fun for the kids to celebrate local festivals even if it is not part of our religion..
Yay for the dishwasher and washer/dryer – no comment on moving – the very thought *scares* me
but more power to you!
As for Christmas, we do put up a tree, but the kids know we don’t celebrate, and thus no presents – they have always known that Santa/tooth fairy etc. are the parents (we’re very practical people
) and seem to understand that they don’t necessarily get presents at this time – but they do get, within reason, what they ask for by way of entertainment, books etc. No complaints so far, but who knows, my kids’ therapist may be contacting me in the future!
M
