As for Christmas, we do put up a tree, but the kids know we don't celebrate, and thus no presents - they have always known that Santa/tooth fairy etc. are the parents (we're very practical people :-)) and seem to understand that they don't necessarily get presents at this time - but they do get, within reason, what they ask for by way of entertainment, books etc. No complaints so far, but who knows, my kids' therapist may be contacting me in the future! My landlord would be the church. It has his own side entrance and all... The church was actually a old country club back in 20s and the top floor(where the apt is) was the dining halll, I think.
