Love poem but not for me.

After his India trip,NK has been reading my blog, not the posts but rather the comments. He says the comments are more interesting. He clicked on Guddi‘s blog and went to view her profile and apparently this line Jagjit Singh is like Zakhm Pe Marhamm inspired him to write a few lines.

Onus is on You
Ta zindagi dard hum ab sah hi lenge
Hamare zakhmon par Marham lagao, na lagao

Raah mei deedar tumara kar hi lenge
Apne ghar humko bulao, na buloa

Jaan pahchaan unse kar hi lenge
Hamare raqueeb se milao, na milao

Mithi yadon se apna daman bhar hi lenge
Hamare haal pe tum taras khao, na khao

Chaar din jee ke ab hum toh mar hi lenge
Nazara yeh haseen tum bhula pao, na pao

Now, you have to realize, my Hindi sucks. I cannot appreciate this poem at all. I thought deedar meant khatir dari. Yeah go ahead and laugh at me. Anyways, you can all ohh and aah over his poem and make him feel good.

PSS: Guddi, your No 1 on the list might just get fulfilled

    Way cool…raqeeb n all, wow!
    S,
    tell him I blushed back.;)

Me: Raqeeb was another word I didnt know the meaning of. Sounds nice though

  2. chandni says:

you’re too cute you know that :)

  3. Tara says:

someone seem to be quite good at poetry.. unhein kahiye ki jaldi se blogging bhi try kar lein.. :) he will get a default set of readers already.

Me: See reply above Tara. Are you back or still in India?

  4. Neelum says:

very well written …..he could pen some more on his own blog,…..what say?

Me: I think he blushed when I read this to him.

  5. shilpa says:

    Wow………he is a talent na?

    BTW whats raqueeb?

    • Guddi says:

From what I understand, raqeeb in its true form means “friend”.. male friend. But is usually used in the context of the “other guy” in the love interest’s life. ya, anyone?

      • admin says:

NK’s answer to me was opponent in love. dushre aashiq. And my next question was is it always used in love context. And he said yes. He claims, I have hindered his creativity in writing sher shayiri because I dont understand.

  6. shilpa says:

Sunita hame kavita suna hi degi, NK hame dikhaye ya na dikhaye……

  7. starry eyed says:

Lol at ‘comments are more interesting’. Lovely header pic.

  8. Am definitely going Ooh-aah over the poem …I can imagine this being sung by jagjit Singh with a “wah-Wah” in the background for every ending of the line :)

Pls do convey my Kudos! to NK. Truely talented!

  9. deepa says:

Atleast NK writes original sher shayri so hats off:-)
All M does is recycle bad jokes from comedy shows when I tell him he hasn’t tickled my funny bone in ages!!! And the gall….he does it while he’s actually watching those shows, which means I could stop cooking or whatever is the f…k I’m doing at that time and go watch myself, right!!

  10. Prashanti says:

Aree, I cant understand some words like raqueeb too, so no worries bout your hindi. Btw, tell me again why NK doesnt have a Hindi Poetry blog ???

  11. Manon says:

Ik snap helemaal niks van het hele gedicht, noch van de commentaren. Voor mij is er dus niet zoveel aan.

Me: Dude no speak Dutch here.. I went to get it translated. I get entirely nothing of the complete poem, nor of the comments. For me is not therefore so much. is the translation :) Its a poem he wrote in Hindi which I cannot appreciate because the Hindi is too tough for me to understand, let alone translate. There isnt any cursing of anyone..boring stuff.

    • Manon says:

That was my point :) Don’t turn it into an exclusive blog!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you wanna scare people away! NK, I’m sure it’s a lovely poem, so now translate!!!!! I’m curious :)

  12. Abha says:

    it is beyyootiful!

pls tell NK that it totally rocks and we look forward to reading more! :)

    cheers!

  13. Chooch says:

Please, please ask ze Man to translate-have no knowledge of Hindi whatsoever-just what I have picked up from Bollywood and it(the ?couplet) “sounds’ so good!
Both of you are verry cute, btw:)

    • NK says:

Here you go , may sound like the subtitles in English of a Hindi Movie

Ta zindagi dard hum ab sah hi lenge
Hamare zakhmon par Marham lagao, na lagao

The whole life I will bear the pain
whether you apply medicine on my wounds or not

Raah mei deedar tumara kar hi lenge
Apne ghar humko bulao, na bulao

I will alway see you on the way
whether you call me home or not

Jaan pahchaan unse kar hi lenge
Hamare raqueeb se milao, na milao

      I will get aquainted to
my rival whether you introduce or not

Mithi yadon se apna daman bhar hi lenge
Hamare haal pe tum taras khao, na khao

Sweet memory I will fill in my heart
whether you pity on my condition or not

Chaar din jee ke ab hum toh mar hi lenge
Nazara yeh haseen tum bhula pao, na pao

I’ve lived enough now am ready to die
sight this beautiful you forget or not

  14. chooch says:
