Where to Begin?

Whose smart idea was it to move NYE weekend and 2 days before school opened? Wait it was MINE… I have no one to blame but me. Its been exhausting. the lugging of the boxes up and down, the cleaning of the old apartment. The unpacking of  trash bagsboxes. Then the rush to make sure that the kids’ bags and shoes and lunch boxes were set out the next day.We moved in Sat night and Monday morning, school started. Ohh I have to mention we had friends helping us move. Friend’s spouse, J came over with his truck and the poor guy dinged and scratched his truck while turning a tight corner. I feel so bad for him!

Then the crazy hectic of our normal schedule. Throw in Samar’s bad excema outbreak, a trip to the doctors, the dentist..Its just been non stop. I have so many things to tell that I am just going to do bullet point style

1. The party was fantastic. IWe had so much fun. The kids watched HappyFeet and I danced away. NK’s comment to a friend was , Sunita toh Rakhi Sawant type ki item number kaar rahi thi. I told that wasnt a compliment AT all. The food was good. The drinks strong. The music loud. Sujatha looked very pretty in her outfit. At point of time, I realized I was inside the ring of women dancing  by myself… Okay I am not that good of a dancer so I came out and sat down for the next few dances. My fav new song is Excuse me Mr Chinnaswamy Kandaswamy:)

2.The house is slowly coming together. I need to get a lot of little things to put the house together. The old apt we were in,I hated it so much that I never had the desire to beautify my living space. The house was functional. Thats it. I didnt buy pretty things. I didnt have baskets or beautiful candle things or apothecary jars or any trinkets that makes one happy. But in this house, I have been on a mission to buy pretty things. I am going to start a new series within the next 2-3 weeks showcasing what I have been doing. I have found this whole other genre of blogs, that thrift and then take the thrifted things to a whole new level. I want to be like that.Anyone interested in links, LMK.

3. I met Boo and Yaadayaada. I was there for 2 hours and it seemed so short. I was fed the most delicious pakora and chai. It never fails to amaze me, how people you just read, when you meet you can have an instant connection and NOT run out of things to talk to. Yaadayaada offered to babysit the kids and you know, I might just take her up on it. Kidding :)

4. The babyshower for the Mothers To be. The fluryy of emails and the details that the girls put into the babyshower was amazing. I was really bad. Not only did I have anything to contribrute to the babyshower blog, my site went down on the day of the shower. How terrible is that? Revs, and Miss M and Nu all did outstanding work. There was something like 1000 emails, 8 countries, god knows how many time zones and 16 women bloggers all doing something for mothers, they have never meet. It was great fun and I am thrilled I was part of it. Again apologies to the site going down..:(

5. For those who were missing it, here’s today outfit. Blurry picture taken at 4 in the afternoon with no makeup. This outfit got quite a few compliments today

Nice update. I am glad the move went well. You guys did a good job withe the MTB shower. It was fun looking for clues.
The outfit looks nice and very well put together. You look very chic and upscale.

Me: You got the showerurl really fast. i was impressed. Do you have a blog?

Update more frequently. Miss you daily updates.

I felt I was going slow and I kept going in circles. So many of them I was visiting for the first time. It was pretty hard since most of the clues were in blogs I had not seen. Then I went to the blogs I visit frequently like yours and couple others and kept clicking the addresses in the comments and blog roll to see who had the clues. It did take a couple of hrs yest evening and i was struck to the computer and my husb got back from work and was asking me if I was working on a National Emergency :) and had to cook dinner for all of us :)
Both my kids were wondering what I was up to. But the whole thing was fun and you guys have done a great job.

Regarding blog, yes I did start one couple of months back inspired by you and few others. But have not updated it since then. Need to get out of the starting trouble I have when i have to do something new.

Me: Aaahh thanks for the compliment and the unpacking..I am wondering if we can live without those boxes unpacked, then do I really need them? I am now hunting for the kid’s electrical sharpener. I dont know where I chucked!

  14. shilpa says:

Glad that everything went well with the move and hope you have a rocking 2010. You look nice and fresh, but like you said, theres something about those pattered tights that make your legs look stumpy. Other than that you get an A! :D

  15. The move and the pains thereafter..I know ..totally understand. But, girl..you had 4 kids to take care in the meanwhile..wow, that must have been more than just handful!

Glad the tough part is over and you are all into house decor now. Cannot wait to till u start that new decor series :D

  17. Devaki says:

Never mind the site being down Sunita. It took some time but loaded up fine for me. The gesture itself was so so sweet, it’s still sinking in for me. You guys are just awesome. Thanks a bunch!

The new home looks great btw!

Me: I am glad you guys managed to find the clues despite the wonky site.

  20. couchpapaya says:

Moving can be such a pain! Atleast you looked cute and you can look forward to filling the new place with pretty goodies :)

Me:It is a huge ordeal, whether cross country, international or just up the f!cking street.
My head hurts. I dont know where is the electric sharpner or my labeller. I did found new crocs that we are hidden for Samar.

Have been meaning to say, thanks to you I found the world of fashion blogging late last year and managed to ‘see’ what I’ve been doing wrong. I’ve been dressing like I used to in India, so basically when I saw plain T’s etc I would pass them by because they were just too plain and dull to wear alone. I’ve finally figured out layering (duh!! also I’m not the sharpest observer, I had to really think about all the outfits I was looking at) due to blogs. So this winter for the first time, I bought basic T’s in all the possible colors. And they’ve been so great to wear under t-shirts, shirts, dresses, sweaters …. And I love how my summer clothes have suddenly become appropriate for winter too! So … thanks :)

Me:isnt it inspiring and to use what they come up with in your own way. For me, its been belts. I never used belts over an outfit and now I do all the time.

Love your tights!! If you like patterned tights I just bought these gray ones (not wool though) and I love them so much I’ve been wearing them everywhere (more epiphanies, that layering thing stretches to tights too)

Me: Me likes! I will order some. Thanks

    1. couchpapaya says:

I love the belted look too, and oh how much I tried to make it work!! Thankfully, before I amassed a collection of belts I realised I have a short torso, so there’s just no way to make it look good :( I never spent so much time thinking about my body type earlier, but now I have a better understanding of what will work for me so I pick better off the racks and dont have that much frustration when cute stuff just doesnt look right on my shape.

  21. La Vida Loca says:

    welcome home!

Me: I owe you a phonecall.
