10 things about me

GM  and Doli both tagged to write 10 things about myself. I  am trying to think what I havent shared in my 5 yrs of blogging.

1. I always read the last page of magazines first.Only magazines, not books or newspapers.

2.I cannot eat spicy food, ie with mirchi(red chilli). Back home, everyone(my sisters and parents) all love spicy. My mum would make sambal with 3 fistfuls of dried chillis. Whenever she made chicken, I would take the chicken pieces and wash it and then eat it with rice.NK also cannot tolerate spicy. I dont have red chilli powder in my house.

3. I can only count up to 20 in Hindi. If I was telling my mum a number, I would either say saat aur panch or tujuh puluh lima.(75 in Hindi and Malay)

4. Growing up, my cousins and I all lived together in the same house. We had a pet monkey name Lucy. My dad once made her drunk.

5. We also had a rooster and a huge, walk in aviary with all sorts of birds.

6. Our pet dog was eaten by a python. A huge python. The police came out and around 10 men had to catch that snake. I was just 7-8 at that time. All I remember was we woke up at 3-4 am and I had to go pee badly.

8. When I first got married, I used to be more outgoing. I used to want to talk to people and not leave the party till the hosts kick us out. Now, I am happy to sit quietly and not mingle. I am happy to just smile at my kids. I dont need to make friends with everyone and not everyone needs to be my friend.

9. The older I get, the angrier  sadder I am feeling. Towards crap people do. Towards natural disasters, towards people dying before their time. Towards unexplained illness. Towards rude drivers. My list can go on and on.

10. I suck at tags. I really do. I havent done Starry’s tag and that was last year. And this tag, I cannot find 5 interesting things about me.

The first 10 people to comment, tell me ONE thing about yourself. Come on, its the least you can do.

I throw a lot of tantrums when I get cranky. Even with Som. A fav one is I say I want to eat something and when he asks me what, I say I dunnno, I want to eat something. He says, upma ? ,sandwich, maggi and so on and I say no to everything and then cry that he doesnt give me anything to eat. This is the same tantrum I have been throwing since I was 5 :(

I thought I used to be great at making new friends but we moved this year to a new state and to my surprise am finding it difficult. Have finally figured out, it isn’t me but them- as in everyone at my age is comfortable with friendships they’ve already made and don’t want to add new ones. (your own admission underscores that point aptly). So tough luck for me:-)

Me: Its tough. I had a tough time, making friends when I first moved to Snotty Bay Area. But things have luckily changed since, only bad thing(good thing maybe?) I have only one desi friend.

  15. sakshi says:

When I go to the restroom and i HAVE to go, but see the person walk out of the stall.. even if its the only empty stall, i wait for 2 mins.. Cant sit on a warm seat.. its like sitting on her butt.. yuck! I enter the stall and stand there.. till m sure the butt warmth is gone….

Me: First Pera’s hairy butt and now butt warm. You guys are worse than my boys and their potty talk.

    1. starry eyed says:

  17. AverageJane says:

Good list Sraikh. How the heck did a python come into the city?
    Guddi: Yep. BTDT.

  21. Goofy Mumma says:

OMG, no spicy food really? I love love love spice food.
I have changed with time too, in terms of not wanting/needing friends and getting sadder about the crap people do.

And you have really grown up with loads of animals isn’t it? That must have been wonderful.

  22. choxbox says:

    wow @ #6!

  23. La Vida Loca says:

I am very, very obsessed about my grades. And it’s making me miserable.

    Me: Hugs.

  24. starry eyed says:

I can’t stand jalebis! I find them plastic looking, too goey and sweet. Give me a milk sweet any day.

I liked 9 :( And am amazed at all the animals in your list!!! What a rich childhood!

Now for the important part of my comment……*Glares balefully at incomplete bucket*

    1. admin says:

I once had jalebi when I was visiting my mum’s gao and I had the worst food poisioning of my life. It was so bad, I had to have IV drip and my mum thought I was going to die. It was a small gao in UP. I was 16 then and now 17 yrs later, the sight of a jalebi brings me to the horror of that India visit. *shudders*

      1. starry eyed says:

That seals it…never eating jalebis then!

  25. supmm says:

Since I wasn’t among the first ten (despite which I revealed something abt myself)…I am not going to tell you that I canb’t drink lukewarm milk, it makes me throw up. Anything with milk in it has to be either absolutely boiling hot or absolutely cold :P

  26. Suki says:

My thing to tell you – I’m lactose intolerant. :P

By the way, have you ever made dairy-free ice-cream? I get MAJOR ice-cream cravings while I’m PMSing but that’s when the lactose intolerance is at its worst :(
