Monday MoneySavers

I had Ashwina’s tea party today. It was a big hit. A huge hit. I had 11 girls and  5 moms. I invited one of Avasha’s friends so that she couldnt feel left out.

The menu was  tuna sandwiches, a really dealish  strawberry cream-cheese-cool whip-marshmallow fluff dip, with pineapples, kiwis and grapes. The punch was a big hit. I had frozen OJ concentrate with 4 cans of Lemon-Lime Soda, freshly squeezed juice of 4 limes and for garnish, orange slices and lime slices. One mom brought chocolate hearts and another cupcakes and heart shaped cookies.

I used real china and candles and napkins. The girls loved it. I bought hats from the dollar store and the girls made tissue paper flowers(thanks J). They ate, drank juice and ran off to the playground. The moms had chai while sticking out our pinkies. I wished I had taken more pictures.

See the flowers centerpiece. I got the flowers for free. The manager at the grocery store gave them to  me. They are, of course, Valentine’s Day flowers and one or two of them were dying. But the rest looked good and she said she didnt know how much there were, so she gave them for FREE.

Each Child went home with a cupcake+cookie + stand and

I loved the colors the girls chose for their contrasting flowers. Very pretty.

Nk worked from home and the boys were running up and down. The girls went outside to the playground. The moms helped me clean and washed and wiped dry all the china and cups. They put away the tables and swept up the room.

The party ended at 4.30 and everyone went home happy. The moms were highly impressed with me and my decor and my church house. They loved it!

I think I have had more people over here in the 6 weeks I have been here than the 14 months I was at the old house.

Wow…am impressed with you, my sis! Our mom used to yell at us the set the table, and look at you now. Setting it all like the “elite” way ( so our sisters and cousins say it). I really love Ashu’s flowers..how did she do it?

Me: She layered the tissue paper, cut them up into squares, ties a string in the middle and then individually peel back each layer to form petals. I will send you the link, if you are interested.

Not getting an invite to this tea party is my first serious set back of the year. But I shall survive.

I absolutely love the idea of doing a tea party for kids prettily, and not with balloons and annoying mickey mouse cut outs and stuff…

The first chance i get to breathe I am going to do a little tea party for S’s friends. The hats are superb, the food table heavenly…
