Reading BL‘s post about her blog’s birthday reminded me that I started this blog in Feb as well.. I went back to check the archives,and what do you know! My very first post was Feb 8th. I only missed the actual date by a week or so. Its been 5 yrs. WOW. Not an infant or toddler but a kindergartner! 5 yrs is a long time to be churning out posts isnt it?
All these years, I have changed what I write about. Inspired by other bloggers. I did daily outfit posts, did thrifting posts, did a Day in the life of Life(oh I will do another one next week). Current obsession is doing the house.
Most of all, the wonderful readers here, who leave me encouraging comments, who fight my trolls. Who tell me its in my head that I am fat(so no true, the mirror doesnt lie)
I started telling people I blog and now more than ever, people who know irl read me. Which sometimes leads to me typing something out and then going back deleting it before publishing the post.
I started on Blogger, shifted to wordpress and then on my birthday last year, bought my own domain. I have ads, I have statcounters, I have an admin userid. I delete annoying comments which piss me off. I mark those commenter’s as spam and its gives me tiny thrill not to publish them.(I can never run my own company, my employees will hate me and will secretly plot to kill me)
Anyways, whats a birthday without presents?Leave me a comment about whats your favourite part of Asaaan, seeing the daily outfits, seeing the Monday Moneysavers, or hearing about the kids’ conversations or stuff that happens between NK and I, or the weightloss/fitness updates(sidenote, I worked out yesterday and walked today). I will send something out to the person who wins the random generator thingy. It will be something thrifted. It might be brand new or it might be vintage. I dont have an idea yet but it will be something you would love. That I am sure of.

I get excited every time I see the wonderful pics you take of your kids and their natkat kahaaniya. it brings a smile to my face and yeah I glare in disbelief at the way you have decorated your house. Amazing is not the right word for it.

I discovered your blog only recently, when we were planning the blog shower for the MTBs and had to write the clue leading to your blog. I scoured your blog to put in the right stuff in the clue about you and loved what I found.

You know I clicked on your first post link, and spent the last 30 mins just reading your old post. They are just so you Sraikh. I think I am going to go through it some more. And since this seems like just the right time to do it, let me say, that yours is one blog, that has taught me so many new things, I think I can clearly say, I have been enriched the most by this blog, whether its the fitness tips or the updates which got me motivated, the daily outfit posts, which made me want to try out accessorising too, the recent home posts, which make me want to do so much more for my own, and ofcourse the thrifting posts, the ones which introduced me to the world of thrifting and the marvellous things it has to offer. If you ask me what kind of posts I like the best, I like them all honestly, and better still, I like them being mixed up. If you did only daily outfit posts or only fitness updates or only thrifting posts, I won’t have as much fun. But the fact that they keep alternating, and you put something more into each post like anecdotes and stuff, makes it so much more fun to read. If I absolutely had to pick a favourite, it would be, the conversations in your household. They so leave me in splits!! And I like your conversational writng style, so much fun and full of spunk, my own essay style writing, bores me.

5 years is awesome, Sraikh; I didn’t know you were older than me! There was a brief period last year when your daily outfit posts got a bit ‘meh’, but you just kept going and pulled your posts into being interesting once more. Nowadays I look forward to every post, and you’re so prolific that there’s usually a post every other day at least! I love seeing ‘Asaaan (1)’ in my Reader.
What pulls people to you (as Kenny told me once) is your outright honesty. I think it says a lot (maybe about me, but probably about you!) that your posts can keep a 24-year-old male hooked!

I cant remember how I stumbled upon your blog..But I had to catch up with 4 years worth of posts. I spent nights reading and reading. I loved everything about it but the kiddie conversations kept me entertained many a sleepless night. The Daily Outfit series inspired me dress better and make my wardrobe a tad bit exciting. Im now dressing atleast 70% better than before:). I love how u efficiently organize your time and you taught me one of the most important things (kids or no kids)- u need some “ME” time and its important to keep sane. I know its harder to have ME time with kids but u manage it and have recommended the same to some of my friends who are Mommies. Cheers to another 5 years and the Spirit of ASAAAN!
