Is it me or is time flying by? Another Thursday. I took a long walk, had breakfast by myself, went to the bank and then hit the thrift stores. I bought a few things which I will post on Monday. But I took pictures for you guys. Those of you in India, who dont know how a thrift store looks like. This is Goodwill. I found the Villeroy and Boch plates here. I have always found pretty things and try hard to resist them.Sometimes though they just jump into my cart and refuse to budge.
As I was taking pictures, a lady comes up to me and asks me what I am doing. I told her I write a blog and was going to post pictures on my blog. She then asks me what I write about. I told her I have 4 kids and I write about them and lately about thrifting. She said you cannot tell people to thrift, then all the good things will be gone. rofl. She also took down my blog url and said she would read me. She is an older woman, an artist who buys canvasses from thrift stores. We exchanged info about the best thrift stores to hit and which estate sales companies to avoid. It was enlightening convo.
I really wanted to buy these two lamps. They have a such a vintage feel to them.
PS:I have more pictures of a 2nd thrift store. I will post those tomorrow.

I’ve never seen a goodwill store that looked so good
Me: You need to plan a trip here.
Wow that’s a very organized looking thift store – most of the Salvo’s and Vinnie’s here are just jumbles of stuff piled together which makes the experience both interesting and annoying
Me: Most of the stores here are pretty organized. This is one of the better ones. I will post Part 2 tomorrow.
I reckon if I was there I’d buy out half the store – my eyes popped out at all the books!
Me: I can easily spend 1-2 hours in this store.
Silavara, what is Vinnie’s? Is it good. I have just been to 3 Salvos here so far, and have found nothing like the finds that Sraikh keeps thrusting into my face here.
Me: rofl. If I am right, then its St Vincent De Paul. But then Australians can make up anything and who knows what Vinnies are.
I am curious about Vinnie’s too?
Oh boy you are my only joy in shifting to California. Can’t wait to hit these beautiful places. I loved those lamps and vases
Me: It took all my strength not to buy them
Woww!!Everything is droolworthy!!!
I just want to reach inside the screen and pick up the bar ware!
Fab!
Hi, I can’t remember how I stumbled onto your blog but it’s delightful reading, I have been following your blog for months now.
Thought I should convey my appreciation for the entertainment that it offers me; your parenting adventures, estate sale forays, thrift store binges, et al.
I live in India in Gujarat, Baroda (or Vadodara as it is now called) to be precise.
No thrift stores here, but it’s such fun to follow you on your thrifting through your blog.
Don’t ever stop blogging, you have a gift for putting down every day things in a very entertaining manner and I love reading your posts.
Me: Aww.. welcome and thanks for delurking.
Yes, it was time to”delurk”.
I had started feeling like a stalker!
verry nice! its os neat and tidy! if you didnt tell me i wont know its a thrift store!
and the things you were drooling over are totally drool worthy!
cheers!
Wow! Your thrift stores are pretty too
The thrift stores here look really dingy and have messages to asking us to be careful with our purses
Me: rofl about being careful with the purses. I dont think I have seen such asign in any thrift store YET!
Now, I saw a number of things I wouldn’t mind buying…
“Sometimes though they just jump into my cart and refuse to budge.”
ROFL on this one
this is the advantage of living in california…your goodwill stores are so well stocked and organized. you should come to the one we have in our area (DC)…it is a nightmare.
but knowing you (however little I have gathered from your posts) i am sure you will still find something positive in it and come away with a lot of goodies.
That is one nicely organized thrift store. I haven’t seen any that was this well organized!
Your photos are LOVELY! You’ll have to text me the secret goodwill store..lol Did I tell you I went to the ts on Broadway. I found a cookbook I loved soo much when I was a kid and some “parenting” books too! It was YOU who inspired me to begin thrifting! hahaha
I would have been nervous to take pictures inside….GLAD YOU DID to share your joys!!!
I got inspired by ur great finds and tried hunting for “good stuff” in thrift stores – san jose to be specific never found anything close to what the pics you put up
Tips please!!
Me: Hmm.. I go 2-3 times a week and maybe thats the key? Go frequently and hopefully you will find something there?
I loved those lamps too. Should check out how my local stores are..
You find the best stuff! I’d love to take you up on your offer to go thrifting together and pick your brain about the best local thrift stores and how to find estate sales. E-mail me if you’re still interested in doing that!
Me: I just read the post. You put in alot of effort in that one. I posted it to my moms club.
I wrote a post yesterday about free fun activities for families in the Bay Area and invite you to check it out. Let me know if you know of any free activities I’ve missed!

You know that you are a thrifter when you look at other people’s photos of thrift stores and you start shopping with your eyes. Love the glassware photo.
Me: rofl.. Welcome Selena.
That is a posh looking thrift store compared to the Goodwills around here. Little effort is made organize items in any way. I wouldn’t mind shopping in one like yours.
