Crafty Goodness

We had people over for dinner on Saturday night. This was the bar cart set up. Virgin cocktails.

I just dumped whatever was in my pantry to make punch

The punch had mangosteen juice, OJ, sprite, pineapple chunks and juice, grapes, lemon and lime. Just before serving, I added 2 cans of club soda to make it fizzy.

Appetizers, NK made the grilled chicken wings

I bought the cute handi(thing holding the samosas) when we were in India. I have about 10-15 of them in various sizes. Isnt the martini glasses holder thing  perfect for serving chivda?

Menu was chicken curry, paneer jalfrezi, puri, raita and rice. Dessert was kheer. Dinner was success. Do you guys remember, me saying I would host more parties at the new house? I think I have had someone over at least once a month, if not more frequently!

Lastly, I sewed this bag from a cushion cover. I sorta winged it. I used a purple liner inside from the free fabric stash from CL and the cushion cover from this haul. I have been using it for the library books.

Ignore the fact that the handles are not aligned perfectly and the sewing isnt straight

You are so creative!! For me a handi is for cooking, would never have thought of serving in one. I’m going to try it soon. And the martini glasses holder is awesome too! Thanks for such great ideas

Me: When I was buying them, the shopkeeper kept saying these were useless(Rs10-Rs20 each) for cooking and kept showing me the more expensive ones and I kept saying I want to serve food in them, not cook.

    Hi

I am amazed how you manage so many things so well. Bloggers like you inspire me . I loved the idea of the bag . Never thought about sewing one from cushion covers. Good idea.

You have a good eyes for spotting treasures . I used to hate going to garage sales (dunno why) and used to get paranoid visiting antique stores during travel (friends literally pull me into such store) because those old dolls (they spooked me , I watched too many old horror movies of 80′s ). Thanks to you, I am warming up to the idea of visiting a thirft store in future . Love to tag along with the friends like you for thrift store visit . Too bad you don’t live in portland.

I loved the foodie foto. They bring an authentic touch to Indian food . I have seen many hotels in Tamil Nadu and restaurants in US serving food in miniature kadai like the one in your picture.

Looking forward for you Monday moneysavers : ).
