The church where I live at, is having their massive annual rummage sale. I mean this thing is 2-storey huge. The kids and I were helping sort out the boxes. The kids were occupied with sorting cars in one box, and I was displaying various stuff. This way, I get first dibs on everything
What I bought, I will show next week but I wanted to share this story first.
Last weekend, I dropped Ashwina at a sleepover and then had 3-4 hours alone. I went to little cafe and had a bagel sandwich. Do you know how peaceful it is to eat your sandwich and not have your monsters ask, whether they can have cucumber/bacon/cheese slice from your sandwich. Or to drink your juice in peace. Anyways I was sitting in this cafe and watching this pretty teen aged girl approach people. Most of the pedestrians brushed her off. In the 45 mins I was there, maybe 2 people stopped to talk to her. After I left the cafe, she of course approached me. She was fundraising for Oxfam.I listened to her spiel and said I cannot do a monthly contribution but here’s a $20 to start you off. I then went off to my favourite thrift store and look what I found.
Stokke Tripp Trapp high chairs costs $250 each. I found 2 at the same store. The one on the left with the bar across, is a UK version with the baby set. The green one came with a harness and the last one is just the chair alone.
I listed the green one on Craiglist’s and had 5 responses within half an hour of posting the ad. The green one sold for $140.To find one Stokke at a TS is rare but to find 3 is ?? I like to think that it was the fact that I donated money(which I normally never do) and had good luck due?
Linking ATG and Southern Hospitality‘s parties.

I would think so too.
I’ve learnt with age that when money is not meant to be yours, killing and stealing for it will not make it yours any more. And very often, you try to stinge and it finds another way to leave your pocket.
What goes around comes around as my mum likes to say.
Me: Your mom reminds me so much of my dad. He says very similar things to your mom.
How much did you buy the chairs for?
Me:$10 each!
Lovely!
Have a question. I am getting into thrifting more seriously and I want to know how to keep track of all the brands. Mostly, when I find something that is really well made and classy, I get it home and google the branding I find on it. 9/10 times, it has turned out to be something that would probably be sold for much higher.
Me: I have a G1 phone and downloaded an app called PKTAuctions. I normally whip out the phone and check the completeds on ebay. I then make an executive decision on whether the “item” is re-sellable or not? Are you asking for re-selling purposes or just in general?
I have learnt a couple of brands for kitchen dishes, china, vintage jewelry this way. How do you do it??
For both. I would love to resell some of the pieces I have, especially because my home is bursting at its seams with the addition of just one tiny little baby. I have some vintage pyrex, milk glass, fireking, glasbake that I would love to resell simply because I just sit and stare at their prettiness and refuse to use them!
Me: Those are pretty drool worthy stuff. So like I said, go into ebay, look at completeds, take pictures, describe, firgure out shipping and wait for bids
Your good deed warranted a reward. Stay this way Sraikh!
Your intentions are always clean and pure Sunita..What goes around comes around in some form or the other..:)…
Nobbad! This is coming close to full-fledged trading.
Just how pretty was that teenaged girl?
Me:She was hot Cambodian girl. She grew up in Cambodia and came over when she was 9 and wanted to help end poverty. Very sweet. Studying pre-med..pretty and smart!
I was once accosted by a Greenpeace fellow in CP in Delhi. I was ready to give him some money, but he refused cash and insisted that I write him a cheque or authorise them to debit from my bank account. Soliciting fail.
ME:What? why not cash?
Wow. This is awsome. I am definitely a believer of “pay it forward”. So your luck was due
How about going back to “daily/weekly outfit posts”? Miss them!
Can i get an autograph plz….I am in no doubt that you will become a celebrity in a couple of years as a thrifting entrepreneur. No kidding!!!
Btw, I saw your ebay store and its is pretty damn professional. At one glance it seems like a store of a veteran ebay seller….
Me: I am very good at fakoing. Very very good.
Yeah, very very good at fakoing = veteran ebay seller!
Pretty cool stuff. Thought of you this weekend when for the first time I made a pretty cool deal with my little one’s b’day gift
You are on a roll lady ! Wow , you are too good. Keep it up
