The bay area has wet since the last few days. Raining non stop. This winter has been amazing. Warm and sunshine so we do need the rain.Rain equals less estate sales.
There were 2 estate sales ads. One 5 miles away with no pictures and one 25 miles with beautiful pictures and drool worthy items. The 25 miles one opened at 9 and there was no way I could drop the kids and reach there on time. And I knew the other dealers would snap up the stuff I wanted. I decided to go and try my luck at the one close to me. I reached there at 855 and there were 3 other people shopping. One of them , my friend Mr A.
I smiled at him and picked up these 2 things.
I spied 3 Brown Saltman coffee tables. I took all 3. This one is the smaller of the 3. I bought the 3 black bar stools as well.
I then spied this fantastic mid century sofa. In white.I asked the price. The lady went to the garage and asked her spouse and then came back and told me. $25. I said what? $25 ..I will take both! Yup 2 beauties
Then I saw this side tables in the bedroom.
I also bought both table lamps. My friend Mr A who also sells at Alameda, came out and said why didn’t I not see the sofa. He was kicking himself.:)
The owner of the house was a 97 yr old man who was in real estate. The heirs do not live in this town and just wanted to get rid of everything. Hence the low prices. I had a funny convo with the lady(deceased owner’s daughter in law)
I was going through a stack of magazines and she said did you see the playboy.
Some of it is vintage but some of it is recent. He is 97 years old and shakes her head.
I laugh at her and said men at that age still have needs. And we all laugh
I didn’t purchase any playboy vintage or otherwise.
I have 3 sales to look forward to this week. Even if i dont find anything, I feel ready for Alameda. It’s on Superbowl Sunday.
Sometimes it pays to be lazy.

I love love love those lamps! Those side tables are really pretty
Love the sofa! I would kick myself too if I did not find it first
BTW did you know about the Packard foundation rummage sale that happens every month in Redwood City? I found awesome kitchenware this past weekend. I am not as savvy with the brands as you are. I generally pick-up stuff that I think goes with the rest of our house.
I see the ads but have never gone. I should, one of these days
That was a great sale! I would have picked up everything you did! Congrats.
$25 for the sofa?? Seriously?? Now I am really jealous
I know right? I asked her twice. $25 really.
Wow, $25 is awesome. How do people keep white furniture so clean and nice??
Agree on the lamps – awesome and nice shades too.
that white couch. *swoon, swoon, swoon* i think i scrolled back up and looked at it 6 times. total love.
Can I just buy the entire house? Haha! I love all of your finds! Awesome price on that sofa, too. Just wow!
